The armed trio all but had the job finished. They didn’t factor in one thing, though.
Armed with a gun, they approached a 70-year-old woman as she was unloading items from her trunk and asked for her car keys.
Nancy Fredrickson thought it was a joke at first.
“But when he said again, ‘I want your car keys,’” she told KCPQ-TV in Tacoma, “that’s when I saw the gun.”
Deciding that she was at a disadvantage, she threw them the keys. Fredrickson, trained in the art of karate and a black belt, knows when to fight, and when not to.
After the assailants piled into the car, they soon realized the car was a manual transmission, which apparently none of them knew how to drive.
“I could hear them trying,” she told KCPQ. “They put the keys in, they turned the lock, but they couldn’t figure out how to get it started.”
So they ditched the car and ran off.
Fredrickson told KCPQ she isn’t angry.
“Afterwards I just said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they did,’” she said.
