It is no secret that Hollywood stars regularly enjoy lavish perks most Americans would consider a rare indulgence. Securing a first-class seat on a long flight is just one such example.
Amy Adams, recently nominated for an Academy Award for her work in the film ‘American Hustle,’ was sitting in a premium seat as her flight from Detroit to Los Angeles was boarding earlier this week. According to another passenger, ESPN2 host Jemele Hill, the actress saw a soldier step into the cabin and make his way toward the coach section.
Just saw actress Amy Adams do something incredibly classy. She gave her 1st class seat to an American soldier. I’m an even bigger fan now.

“I noticed Ms. Adams was in first class and, as I was getting seated, I saw the flight attendant guide the soldier to Ms. Adams’ seat,” Hill recalled in an interview with ABC News.
At that point, she said, Adams was no longer in the first class compartment, noting “it was pretty clear that she’d given up her seat for him.”
Hill concluded the soldier likely did not immediately know who had given up a seat in order to make his flight more comfortable.
“I guess he will now,” she exclaimed.
Adams, whose father was enlisted, subsequently found her way back to coach for the flight to California.
“Ms. Adams did it so quietly and quickly that it speaks to her character,” Hill asserted, adding “somebody in coach just got a helluva seatmate!”
At one point prior to takeoff, the witness explained that Adams and the soldier engaged in a private conversation near the cockpit.
Hill summed up the sentiment of many other Twitter users in declaring that she is “an even bigger fan now.”
