On the campaign trail, how many times did we hear candidate Barack Obama lie? “I can make a firm pledge,” he said in Dover, N.H. “Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.” He repeatedly vowed, “You will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime.”
At the time, Obama was showing us how the game would be played: class warfare, in which his administration would pick the winners and losers. Wow, that sounds great, since his desire all along was to further divide segments of our society. Think of the evil rich! You know, those who don’t pay their fair share, another liberal lie. It seems those promises, like most campaign promises, went up in smoke as soon as he was sworn into office.
Let’s not forget the pending “soda tax” to control childhood obesity. What comes next: the food police? Of course, when Michelle Obama is not jet-setting around the world and living large on the taxpayers dollar, she needed a cause; thus, the FLOTUS began telling us, especially school children, what we must eat.
The largest federal increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite President Obama’s promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000. The poor tend to smoke more so than the ‘rich’; subsequently, this is a regressive tax on the poor. Once in office, President Obama signed a law raising the federal tobacco tax on a pack of cigarettes to $1.01. Other tobacco products saw similarly steep increases.
Barack Obama said in the campaign that Americans could have a broad boost in affordable health insurance for the nation without raising taxes on anyone but the rich. What has resulted is health insurance premiums rising; employers are cutting jobs in anticipation of the onerous burden to be placed on them while they implement the forced mandates of ObamaCare.
Again on the campaign trail: “Listen now,” candidate Obama said in his widely watched nomination acceptance speech. “I will cut taxes—cut taxes—for 95 percent of all working families, because, in an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle class.” (Another lie as all the tax increases mentioned above and below have just demonstrated.)
The middle class hasn’t begun to see the effect of the tyranny about to be brought upon them and the rest of America when the ”Bush Tax Cuts” expire and President Obama’s new tax policies begin to take place in early 2013. It is reasonable to conclude, using the failed economic policies of past progressive presidents that many more jobs will be lost. How does that help the poor? Tending to be less educated, will they not be among the first to be terminated?
While continually blaming the policies of George W. Bush for his economic woes, he promised that if Congress would keep letting him borrow more money, unemployment would not go below 8%. Factually using faked numbers from the White House, on the low end the unemployed consistently remained at over 9%. Factoring in CBO numbers, the under-employed, those working part time, and those who have quit looking for employment, most economist agree that the real rate of unemployment remains in the neighborhood of 16% (with black unemployment in many areas of the country in the mid to high twenty percentile.)
Do you recall the irony of President Obama’s pitch for Cap and Trade legislation while claiming energy prices will skyrocket? “ With my energy policy your utility bills will necessarily skyrocket” said President Obama at the time. This progressive energy tax creates tax hikes on every single American, thus once again another regressive tax on the less fortunate and the poor. Then, legislation was signed in a Pelosi-led Congress increasing the alcohol tax at the federal level. Who will be affected more by an extra 25 cents for a bottle of Bud, the ‘rich’ or the ‘poor’? Using slight of hand to raise taxes on gasoline, “Obama reissues call to end oil company tax breaks.” Of course, this will be passed on to the customer in the form of a stealth tax at the pump. This will help the poor exactly how?
Again, President Obama has said repeatedly that he will not raise taxes on families and businesses making less than $250,000. Of course the devil is in the details. Paul Volcker mentioned that new taxes, and possibly a VAT, would be needed to rein in large deficits. We are being led to believe that a VAT will generate more tax revenue, arguing that it’s more efficient because it doesn’t tax savings and investment. Do the poor and less fortunate tend to have savings and investments? Doubtfully. Lost upon the socialists and progressive currently in power is the truism that no country in world history has taxed its way into prosperity.
Let us never forget that today’s horrible deficits represent the out-of-control spending by elected officials from both parties that have for years spent our tax dollars on failed programs. These failed programs, largely designed to help the poor, have actually hurt them, forcing them to accept a dependency mentality and a belief system that big government programs and the Liberal Democratic party is looking out for them. Truthfully, it’s the opposite. Again, these so-called “leaders” depend upon the ignorant and uneducated among us for their votes.
The wars on housing, poverty, (note that President Obama has increased spending in the 2011 budget on these failed programs to historic levels), drugs, and teen pregnancy, all designed with our tax dollars to help the poor, have instead greatly harmed them. Think of living in government housing projects (many of which have long since been bulldozed) among gang members, drug addicts, and prostitutes, with virtually all of them carrying a gun.
As candidate Obama’s favorite pastor has said, “The chickens have come home to roost.” Sadly, the poor and less fortunate will be burdened disproportionately with increased taxes at a time in American history when they can least afford it.
In this sense, the Republican Party represents the party of progress for the poor and less fortunate among us, and they are welcomed to our party. The Republican party is not the party of “No.” It must become the party of “No More Wasteful Spending” which hurts all Americans, especially the poor. The Democratic Party is the party of “No you can’t. “We can do it better for you. Of course, we will use other peoples’ money.”
I rejected liberal hyperbole in my early twenties, saw it for the fraud it was, and have been a staunch advocate of fiscal conservatism to this day. Jim’s Law: Profits employ – Taxes Destroy.

I read this article, and read it well indeed. However, the thing that stuck with me through the whole article, was this “taxes” and more “TAXES” bit. It sounds to me like America is repeating her history, that is, repeating history with a different “King” demanding more TAXES! Before America became the United States of America that is. Before the Revolutionary War was fought with Great Britian, and King George when he was King……….now we have this “wanna be” in office, who has this idea that he is truly the “king of the world”! And with every flap of his purple, lying lips, he makes it even harder on we “colonists” who seem to have lost our “rights” that our forefathers fought and died for! When did this happen, when did this alien, illegal Kenyan become King of America? We do not have KINGS, we are supposed to be a nation of free thinking, free living, freedom loving people, who VOTE on the issues and how things are done here! What on earth happened to our Freedom for all? Taxes and more taxes, and upon all those taxes, our freedom of speech is under attack, with all this “politically correct” hooey, this PC is nothing more than suppressing our rights to speak our free thinking! Correct? By whose standards is it “correct” to call a spade a spade and a heart a heart? What IS,, IS! If you are ANTI American, then that is what you are, no bones about it! If you hate this country, then you HATE US AND OUR COUNTRY AND HER PEOPLE! That applies to the so called “peaceful” muSLIMES! They most obviously HATE our free speech and our religions and every other thing about us, so why do we have to be “politically correct” and worry about “hurting” their tiny, little, murderous feelings? This is not the only PC thing I am talking about, others include this “african american” crap, amongst other such stupid things, either you are AMERICAN or you aren’t! No “african” or other such crap needs be said. I am of British descent, so should I be offended if someone doesn’t say when addressing my heiritage, “British/American”? Should every American be “offended if they are not referred to as any ancestry of theirs too? There are many such issues of this nature that have been blown out of proportion in this nation. You put all this together, taxes and the PC crap, plus much more, and what we have is an attack on us all, rich and poor alike. Taxes are hurting the poor much harder than they are the rich, for I am speaking from hard experience. It takes everything I work my hands to the bone for, to make ends meet. I am a cleaning lady, and I don’t make all that much in the small town I live in. Gas prices are killing me, as I have to drive to work. Propane and fuel to heat my home are just two more examples. Take my ability away to pay my bills, and then take my freedoms away, what do I, and many like me have? Not much, if anything. Poor people like myself find it hard enough to do what we must, but to attack our basic freedoms is just too far to go, and this one who is at the head of this attack on my country and her people, and their right to find work, and pay reasonable taxes, this is an act of war against the people of America and should be addressed immediately. If we work, and earn a living, then our very ability to even breathe free air is under attack. I see it as an act of war against me, and my family. War against the People of America is exactly what this is. Oppresion of not only the BLACK people but also against the WHITE, and perhaps, more so against WHITE FOR SIMPLY BEING BORN WHITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, it IS a race issue, a race issue against WHITE FOLKS!
Sorry about the “sound off” there, but I am just so disgusted with everything, from top to bottom, that I get frustrated and go on a bit, or a bit much. I am just tired of working my behind off, and then having not only to pay such high prices for gas to fill my car, just to get to and from work, and then, taxes on top of that. Then the price of just having to EAT! Everything has gone up and up so far that the poor are just hardly hanging on to what they work so hard to have, simply a roof over their heads. The race thing is just one example of what is wrong(er) in this country. The black people were once the only race that had the problem with discrimination, but now, it has turned into discrimination against the whites, and none of this is right. If it is wrong to discriminate against black folks, then it is also wrong to do so against the whites of this nation. And I am sick and tired of hearing the african put in front of the American part of who we are. We are all, ALL Americans. However, I make no apologies for my “comments” about the disease known as muSLIMES! They are our biggest problem today. And for that, Refuse to apologize in any way, shape nor form! Paying taxes will not KILL me, this disease called islam/islime, muSLIMES, WILL KILL ME IF GIVEN HALF A CHANCE!!!!! Sorry if it got off subject, but as I wrote, what is, IS!
What has America become?
Has America become the land of special interest and home of the
double standard? Let's see: If we lie to the Congress, it's a felony
and if Congress lies to us it's just politics. If we dislike a black person,
we're a racist and if a black dislikes whites, it's their 1st Amendment
right. The government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and
they do almost nothing for the victims. In public schools you can teach
that homosexuality and lesbianism is ok, but you better not use the
word God in the process. You can murder a child in the mothers womb,
but it's wrong to execute a mass murderer. We don't burn books in
America, we now rewrite them. We got rid of the communist & socialist
threat by renaming them progressives. If you protest against Obama's
policies you're a terrorist, but if you burn an American flag or George
Bush in effigy, it's your 1st Amendment right.
You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not
put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas. In America,
criminals are now called sick people. The government takes money
from those who work hard & gives it to those who are lazy. Parenting
has been replaced with Ritalin & video games. The land of opportunity
is now the land of hand outs.
And how do we handle a major crisis today? The Government
appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens
them, passes a law, raises our taxes, then tells us the problem is
solved so they can get back to their reelection campaign.
I read recently Obama never took a science or math class in college. Don't know if its true or not but it sure would explain his "blue print for the economy" and energy policy. Obama is like Pelosi when it comes to logic or sense. Besides being a conman, he seems somewhat retarded. One could put a rock in the white house and the country would achieve positive results compared to Obama – other people could get things done for the rock. Maybe a rock should run for president.
