It is now common knowledge that, especially during his troubled second term, Barack Obama is shedding supporters at a record pace. At this point, it seems his only reliable defenders are found in the mainstream media press pool.
Astoundingly, though, even left-leaning journalists are now speaking out against Obama’s tyranny. One of the most ardent opponents to his regime is widely recognized reporter Nat Hentoff. The 88-year-old veteran writer recently expressed his outrage regarding the endless implementation of presidential decrees and executive orders emanating from the White House.
“Never before in our history has a president done these things,” he said in a recent interview with WorldNet Daily.
Now a WND contributor, Hentoff spent decades writing for the leftist publication The Village Voice. Despite a long career spent embracing many of the left’s ideals, he is now issuing a call that many conservatives are reticent to support: the impeachment of Barack Obama.
He said that, even from the beginning of Obama’s presidency, it was clear “he was going to be the most destructive, dangerous president we’ve ever had.”
Since then, Hentoff claimed, he has received repeated requests to give Obama more time.
“Well, we’ve given him a chance,” he continued. “I understand the case a little.”
Obama rules by decree, he explained, chastising Congress and the media for their failure to expose his unconstitutional acts.
“He’s in a position now where he figures he’s going to do whatever he wants to do,” Hentoff concluded.
Obama, he said, is taking Richard Nixon’s assessment of executive power to a frightening new level. Complaining that Bill Clinton was impeached merely for being “a lousy liar,” Hentoff wondered what Obama would have to do to receive the same scrutiny.
“So, if this isn’t a reason for at least the start of an independent investigation that would lead to impeachment, what is?” he asked. He concluded that modern Americans are no longer tied to the notion of self-governance, which only emboldens those who support Obama’s imperial rule. He also criticized those who backed Obama simply because he was “a black guy, and he’s articulate, so we’re going to do this.”
In the end, Hentoff agrees with millions of conservatives who see Obama’s reign as “worse than Woodrow Wilson’s regime, when people could be arrested for speaking German.” He has also joined the growing chorus of outraged Americans who want to see Obama held accountable for his actions.
