What’s Wrong With The English Language?

New York, that bastion of all Americanism, is going to be teaching their young children Arabic twice a week. Now if I’m not mistaken, America is and has been for over 235 yrs an ENGLISH-speaking country. At a time when America is falling way behind the rest of the world in math and science, are we redirecting resources to teach a foreign language? Our teacher’s unions and the SOCIAL PROGRESSIVES in our government are screaming that we need to pour more money into education to get better results, but yet, when we do increase spending on education, it almost always gets diverted to this kind of stupidity!

We are an ENGLISH-speaking nation. English is our primary language. English (only God knows why) should be written into law as our OFFICIAL language! If you come to America, you will have to be able to read and comprehend ENGLISH before you get any benefits or services. No more “press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish”, no no no. No more thousands of different language government booklets or instructions written in ten bazillion different languages to appease everyone that comes here; after all, it is we, the ENGLISH-speaking taxpayers, who have to shoulder the cost of that burden.

The other thing that we do not need and should not tolerate in this country is the introduction of either Sharia Law or foreign law into our judicial system. We have done very well in this country using the systems of laws that we have adopted. Sharia law, especially, has been pushed by the growing Muslim communities around the United States. This effort needs to be spiked right now. If Muslims are not happy with our system of justice, then may we suggest that they return to their country of origin and enjoy all the freedoms available there? The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has threatened to sue the State of Kansas for recently passing an anti-Sharia or international law ban. Governor Sam Brownback signed the legislation to prevent American law from being overruled. There are several more states that either have or are considering such legislation. CAIR believes that such legislation is “discriminatory” against Muslims and their religious practices.

I suppose they are upset that we Americans just don’t understand “honor” killings as allowed by their religion. There have been several cases of Muslim fathers killing their wives and daughters (mostly) because they became too “Westernized.” Here’s a hint to all you Muslim fathers….. if you don’t want to become”westernized”, then don’t come to America! Why is it suddenly in this country that we are so eager to accomodate Muslims to the point that we are willing to set aside all that is America for them. We respect freedom of religion in this country, but there is a line that we will not cross.

Sharia law is in direct conflict with our system of Judeo-Christian laws. How would our lawyers defend the punishments meted out by Shariah law when ” no cruel and unusual punishment” is the defense lawyer’s mantra? Our laws are more than fair, and our system of justice has served this country and its people well for many generations. We do not need to adopt another  harsher system contrary to who we are.

We need to teach our children, and the world’s children, ENGLISH if they want to come live and work here in America. Our education system has more to work on with basic American courses than to try to figure out how to teach our children a non-primary language just to please one group of people in the world. This is America, and they need to learn our language, our laws, our Constitution, and our history.

If our education system really wants to teach Muslim prayers in schools ( when they won’t even allow Judeo-Christian prayers) and teach Arabic, maybe these people should join the Peace Corps and go overseas to the countries that they seem to cherish over ours. I’m sure that these countries would welcome non-Muslim teachers warmly! Our politicians, lawyers, and educators need to start respecting and honoring the system that has allowed them to be where they are today.

One final thought. It is no wonder that so many parents are pulling their children out of public schools and either home schooling them, or demanding and filling more charter schools than ever before. Muslim groups, Hispanic groups, or any other group that wants to holler about wanting diversity in education is more than welcome to set up their own colleges and universities to promote studies of their culture and language when their children get older. In their younger years, however, their children are going to learn about America and ITS language, ENGLISH. Either learn to take pride in being in America and all that it has to offer, or pack your bags and go home!
