Obama made a speech blaming Republicans for blocking him from “Hope and Change” for millions of Americans. “The things you care about right now, the Democrats are promoting. And we’re just not getting enough help.” He asked that Republicans “join us and get on board” so they can do these things together. Then the president pleads, “I want to work with you, but you gotta give me something, you gotta try to deliver something….anything!” As if demonizing Republicans is going to motivate them to work with a president whose version of compromise is complete surrender to his terms. Obama is not really interested in working with Republicans–or it would already be happening.
“They don’t do anything, except block me and call me names. It can’t be that much fun.” No, it’s not much fun, but that’s not the purpose of serving in the government. Fortunately, there is some resistance by some members of the GOP to keep him from running roughshod over everything; but the economy is still dismal, immigration has become a humanitarian crisis, the Middle East is burning, and the scandals keep stacking up.
“If they were more interested in growing the economy for you and the issues you’re talking about instead of trying to mess with me, then we’d be doing a lot better.” Again, telling lies about an entire political party with a broad brush is not going to improve relationships and the well-being of the U.S. We, as citizens, are interested in improving the economy; yet Q1 was minus 2.9 per cent, Mr. Obama! YOU are the one with all the EPA regulations that are stifling our energy sector by closing coal plants and blocking the Keystone Pipeline. The Republicans aren’t faultless here; but ultimately, Obama needs to be held accountable for the current state of the union. It has been five-and-a-half years.
