Nice to see the bell ringers enjoy their job.
Too bad the Salvation Army does NOT help those who need it.
I know this personally from a family members experience.

I won't donate to the Salvation Army, the Red Cross or any other 'large' groups.

I agree. I first heard this from my Dad coming back from England in WWII. Too many other good organizations to donate to.

Your local food pantry/food center is who a person would want to donate to. They do help the community and do it all for the sake of helping. Not to see who can get rich.
I've personally seen the Red Cross take the credit publicly in the paper for 'helping' home fire victims when these same victims were living in my home with no help from them.
The Red Cross, Salvation Army, Goodwill turned down a plea to help purchase a very expensive life saving (literally) antibiotic.
She was told it was 'too expensive' for them to help.
Even our 'government' turned her down.
A local agency, and out asking for donations, finally got her the much needed medication.

        The stories are true. Unfortunately.
        They only help foreign countries.

Seeks the government turned her down because she wasn't black or illegal.I will never give to the Red Cross but I've seen the Salvation Army work. When the bridge went down on the NYS Thruway and cars plunged into the river we were working day and night to find the cars that went into the Mohawk .The Red Cross & Salvation Army came ans set up food trailers well the RC were charging while the Salvation Army was giving food and drinks for free. That is the only time I dealt with either one.

Exactly Ed. High profile, very public issues.
            Good fund raisers.
The average citizen that the Salvation Army and Red Cross claim to help, and seriously need help, never see them.

The government will out and tell you if you're not Black or mexican they won't help.
