Obama has shown overwhelming proof that he was born in Hawaii. First, he showed the official birth certificate of Hawaii, the Certification of Live Birth. It is the official birth certificate. In fact, it is the only birth certificate–or birth document of any kind–that Hawaii has issued since 2001. Birthers are calling for the original birth certificate. But Hawaii has not sent out copies of that since 2001. It sent the Certification of Live Birth to Obama because that it what it sends to everyone. Second, the officials in Hawaii (who were members of the Republican governor's administration) and the Republican governor of Hawaii have confirmed the facts on Obama's birth certificate, that he was born in Hawaii in 1961.

The reason is that Obama's eligibility is irrelevant to the issue of whether Lakin disobeyed an order. The order "Go to Afghanistan!" is a perfectly legal order because the Afghanistan War is a legal war, approved by Congress during the Bush Administration. It was given to Lakin by a superior officer, a full colonel or a general, and not by Obama. Therefore Obama's eligibility has nothing to do with the case.
Imagine if during WWII an order were given: "Get in the boat, soldier. We are going to invade in Normandy.' And, the officer got back this reply: "I won't, sir. FDR has not proven his eligibility to be president."

This is true. What is left out is that a child born to a Hawaiian resident outside Hawaii in the early sixties, may have the birth registered anytime during the child’s first year of age. Meaning that the child did not need to be born in Hawaii to get a Certification of Live Birth from Hawaii. It wouldn’t matter except in the case of a United States President. He, in fact, did meet Hawaii’s requirements, although he was born in Kenya. The full Kenyan Birth Certificate can be found on the web as well as his grandmother’s testimony she was present at his birth and the Ambassador from Kenya has also confirmed the same.

Moreover, Hawaiian birth documents are not allowed to lie as to the place of birth. Yes, currently (NOT in 1961) Hawaiian birth certificates can be issued to the children of residents of Hawaii when their child is born outside of Hawaii. But, as the document cannot lie, it would have to list the actual place of birth. It would read like this: "Hawaii certification of birth, Place of Birth: Newark, NJ (or wherever)." In those days US airlines often refused to carry women late in pregnancy. Hawaii has said that it has the long-form. It also has said that it no longer sends out copies of the long-form, it only sends out the new official short-form birth certificate, known as the Certification of Live BIrth. That is the one that Obama showed and posted.

They are not sealed, they are simply private–not open to the general public–as are virtually all birth certificate and college records.
