We all hate those infomercials where they hock beauty cream or exercise machines or electronic gadgets that supposedly you can’t live without.
If we met the people behind those infomercials, we’d probably hate them just as much.
Unless you’re Robert Roche (pronounced “roach”).
His company, Acorn International, produces those nauseating commercials and hocks useless stuff not in America, but in China. His company rivals most multinational corporations in the amount of banking, telecommunications, and government—communist government—contacts it has. A report by the Government Accountability Institute has a series of charts documenting how extensively Acorn is embedded in the People’s Republic of China and the endless tentacles into the Chinese government and state-run enterprises it has.
So a person embedded in the Chinese government that holds the majority of our foreign debt (and that has been caught time and time again trying to breach our banking and defense computer networks) shouldn’t be someone that sits at the same table with the leader of the free world, right?
Not so with the Chinese informercial king, Robert Roche. He had a personal and private meeting with Barack Obama at the White House a month after the inauguration, and this was followed up by nineteen additional visits. He’s on Obama’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations. In a 2011 State dinner, Roche was the guest of honor, sharing the table with President Obama and former presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
Wow! That’s power.
What’s so special about Roche?
Why’s the Chinese informercial king also king of the State dinner?
In a word: Money.
Roche has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Obama.
But more importantly, his Acorn-owned Obama.com website has driven tens of thousands of foreigners to the Obama campaign’s “donate” page.
Oops! Shhh. You’re not supposed to know about those illegal foreign donors that the head of the RNC, Reince Priebus, has demanded that Obama disclose.
Maybe Roche’s informercial company can save the stumbling Obama campaign and start making Obama’s campaign commercials because the Big Bird spots aren’t playing that good right now.

That is what sells Obama. He says he believes in playing Robin Hood and give his rich gains to his roaches.
I know this is petty but I do believe the author means 'hawk' as in to sell wares on the street and not 'hock' which means the act of pawning an item.
