In years to come when America looks back on the Benghazi debacle, it will not be found in the history books, but Ripley’s “Believe it or Not.”
An attack on our consulate in Benghazi and murder of an ambassador and three others, clearly the work of terrorists, is labeled by our own government as the result of a crudely-made anti-Islam video.
This goes on for two weeks, even to the point that with the Middle East going up in flames due to anti-American sentiment, the President of the United States refers to the video six times in a major speech at the UN.
Finally the administration admits it was terrorists, but blames the intelligence community for the erroneous information despite no one in the intelligence community identifying the video as the source of the attack, and in actuality knowing it was terrorism in less than twenty-four hours.
The Vice President then goes on national TV during a debate and states that the administration didn’t know anything about repeated requests for additional security at the consulate, despite two days of congressional testimony stating so with copies of cables from the consulate read into evidence!
Stupid? Clueless? Incompetent? Liars?
Whatever they are, it falls into the category of “Believe it or not.”
