These People Don’t Want Americans To Have Jobs

As America awaits Barack Obama’s latest proclamation regarding the Keystone XL pipeline proposal, environmental extremists continue to rally against the project. The pipeline, which would both create jobs and decrease America’s dependence on enemy nations for our energy resources, is supported by an overwhelming 65 percent of the public.

According to a recent poll, even a clear majority of Democrats now support the completion of this ambitious project.

While public sentiment continues to shift away from them, though, those who want to end the stymie the pipeline’s progress are only becoming more obnoxious in their protest.

Earlier this week, activists held nearly 300 vigils across the nation with the collective intent of disparaging the Keystone project. Photos of sparsely attended events abounded in the days since as an increasingly small percentage of the population attempted to make their effort appear more robust than it truly is.

A number of signs being displayed at the vigils sent a direct message to Obama in an apparent bid to make sure he stands by his early criticism of the pipeline.

“Climate Champion or Pipeline President,” one sign asked, featuring a rendition of Obama standing between illustrations of a wind farm and the Keystone XL pipeline.

Obama is expected to announce his decision on the issue later this year, giving environmentalists little time to rally the troops and make a final push to end the wildly beneficial project. Meanwhile, as gas prices remain high and the Middle East only grows more volatile, more Americans than ever before are on board with construction of the pipeline.

In a related development, the same poll that shows a wide margin of favorability for Keystone also shows a clear majority of Americans support off-shore drilling and other energy independence projects.

The time has come to exploit this nation’s unparalleled natural resources and cut ties with the oppressive nations that have us over the (oil) barrel. The radical left, however, looks at any embrace of such self-sufficiency as an intolerable affront to the environment.

While clean energy is making significant strides in affordability and efficiency, the fact remains that oil is still a vital resource in our society. Until wind, solar, or any other types of alternative energy become a viable alternative, millions of Americans believe the best solution is a robust embrace of American ingenuity and resource. The Keystone XL pipeline offers both in spades.
