Not happy with your choices for president of the United States in 2012? Feeling angry at both Republicans and Democrats? Rejoice! There will be a third party alternative. A well-funded non-profit called Americans Elect is hard at work getting qualified for ballot access, and taking aim at all 50 states.
Americans Elect has already qualified to be on the ballot in key swing states of Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and 10 others including California. Apparently funded by wealthy hedge fund managers, the organization expects to qualify for ballot access in every state, and to hold an online primary election in April to select its candidates for president and vice-president. Voters can register on-line to vote in the primary.
Former New Jersey Governor Christie Todd Whitman is on the Americans Elect board of directors. Among the names being discussed as possible third party presidential candidates are Representative Ron Paul….

Wouldn't a third party candidate elected for president be a hoot. Think maybe the "Old Boys" would start to get the message?
Are you old enough to remember the last 3rd party candidate elected president? I I think not. There NEVER was one.
PLEASE NOT RON PAUL!!!
Anti-Semitic, Isolationist, very weird international policies, pro-Iran nuclear, not sure about his abortion stand, but fairly sure he's pro choice, since he's "libertarian"
Remember, too, this guy's changed PARTIES more often than Newt's changed WIVES! He is the epitome of RHINO. He is NOT Conservative – he disagrees with R. Reagan, and on and on and on….
So, IF he were the 3rd party candidate, we'd DEFINITELY have another 4 years of Obama!!!
There may definately be a place for this, but PLEASE! not in 2012. A Third Party Candidate is a sure way to get Obama re-elected. Let's be a little smart about the future of our country for a change. This election is critical and not a time for political infighting among conservative voters.
As Barack Obama would say: "Divide and Conquer." As I would say: "Only Jesus was without fault. The nominee may be an S.O.B., but he is OUR S.O.B.."
I agree with irate Grandma. We are not ready for a third party yet, so a vote for one would only be a vote for the democrats. We should vote republican this election, and hope to find a dependable candidate for a third party during the following four years. I do not like a lot about the republicans either, but it is better than the alternative. I am disappointed in John Boener, because he hasn't followed thru with what he promised when he became speaker of the house. I sometimes think all of them, republican and democrat, are h–l bent on destroying our country. Fourty or fifty years from now most of them will be dead, and just think of what they are leaving to their children and grandchildren. I wish that loyalty, love of country, patriotism and freedom, meant more that money or power.
Rose, I guess you remember the damage that Ross Perot did to the elections back when Clinton was elected president, as a result of his dividing of the people and votes. That’s how we wound up with Slick Willie. So, a third party is a great idea in the future, but definately not right now. As it is, there is already too much division in both the parties and people. And more division in the candidates, that is as clear as crystal. And this division is exactly what the present fiasco in office wants and is having a blast watching. He has brought more division to this country and her people than an earthquake ever would or could. We could survive an earthquake, but we will not survive another 4 years of this walking disaster/disease in office. Unless we get it together and get ourselves together as a people, one nation, UNDER GOD, we are in more trouble than ever before, even the trouble that both 9/11 and Pearl Harbor combined!!!!!! Because we were United on both those occasions, disasters, attacks. However, we are being ATTACKED from WITHIN this time, and unless we stand together as a nation, this ATTACK from within will bring us down as the Japanese and Terrorists never dreamed of doing in their wildest dreams. Either we come together, undivided as a people and nation this time, or what will come will be worse than we ourselves ever dreamed of in OUR wildest nightmares, with this muslime/filth/disease/disaster/trash, and so much more, in office! I cannot find the words enough to express my hatred of this thing who is out to ruin our nation and everything she ever stood for, and for whom so many have fought and died! I have disliked certian presidents, but never in all my years have I ever so hated one until now!
