Furthering a trend that started with NASA in 2010, another government agency is redirecting its focus to Islamic outreach. This time, the National Park Service is using its resources to distribute short films about the religion’s purported contributions to women’s rights.
Aside from the vague mention of the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, the NPS website offers no indication of how this project fits into its mission. Instead, the narrative immediately turned toward Islam’s great achievements of millenia past.
Going back 1,300 years, the website contends “Islam gave women the right to be involved in politics, the right to earn and keep her own money” and numerous other liberties modern Islam seems intent to withhold from the fairer sex.
As Islamists continue, in their own words, to demean and marginalize women today, a taxpayer-funded government entity is feverishly trying to paint a friendly picture of the faith.
“Islam gave women a whole bunch of rights that Western women acquired later in the 19th and 20th centuries,” the website continues, “and we’ve had these rights since the 7th century A.D. and it’s just not acknowledged worldwide.”
The ignored reality of that statement, though, is that those rights are no longer being afforded to women who are treated at best as second-class citizens in much of the Islamic world. The ones failing to acknowledge the so-called facts in the NPS video are themselves practitioners of Islam!
When the United Nations proposed a Declaration on Women’s Rights, it was the Muslim Brotherhood that vehemently spoke out against it.
Instead of taking them at their stated position at face value, politically correct leftists are intent to sanitize Islam’s radical past as well as its violent present.
