Are Unions Using Stimulus Money To Recall Walker?

Barack Obama speech 12 SC 284x300 Are Unions Using Stimulus Money To Recall Walker?

When Obama pushed through his stimulus package shortly after taking office, the money going to bail out GM andW Chrysler was not so much intended to shore up those corporations as it was intended to shore up the unions at those corporations. In other words, although one of the ubiquitous reasons given was saving these two iconic American companies, the real goal was to pass tax-payer dollars to Democrat-dominated union members (to keep them voting for Democrat candidates for the foreseeable future). In a real sense, this is nothing more than a sophisticated money laundering scheme. And it’s one that should outrage every American taxpayer regardless of party affiliation.

AFP Unleashes New Attack Campaign On Obama

Barack Obama speech hand 2 SC AFP Unleashes New Attack Campaign on Obama

We all remember the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, also known as “The Stimulus.”  It was a $831 billion government goodie bag that had lofty projections of unemployment dropping below 8% and robust economic growth at 4% if it were passed by Congress.  Republicans in Congress had took a shellacking in the two previous election cycles and seemed ill-equipped to fight what was, as George Will states, unabashed political opportunism driving the funding of unpalatable pet projects that were then seen as “stimulative.”  Well, unemployment has been over 8% for well over 26 months and economic growth this year is at a paltry 2-2.3%.  This serves as another episode in the annals of Obama’s failed policies.

However, with a bill so enormous, corruption and waste were inevitable factors.  It appears that Frederich Hayek’s quote that “the curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design” rings true with this administration.  Americans for Prosperity has developed an ad campaign based around Hayek’s statement, which they hope will influence voters this election year.

They have followed up on their Solyndra ad and released a shocking and disturbing trailer detailing how billions of our taxpayer dollars were sent overseas while millions of Americans struggled in this miserable economic climate.  It states that $2.3 billion dollars in tax credits for green energy went to foreign countries. $1.2 billion was sent to a solar company to build a plant in Mexico.  Another half a billion to an electric car company in Finland.  In all, $34 billion dollars were wasted on clean energy initiatives, and Americans were left paying for it by exporting possible employment opportunities overseas.

American for Prosperity is focusing to bring this message of deceit and failure to eight states that are critical in the 2012 election.  It involves a mutli-tiered campaign utilizing new media, cable, and network outlets in Virginia, Ohio, New Mexico, Nevada, Florida, Colorado, Michigan, and Iowa.  Tim Phillips, President of AFP, hopes that this ad will influence swing voters come November and has also planned an extensive grassroots campaign which will be kicked off in Grand Rapids, Michigan starting in late April.

When I asked about why Pennsylvania was not on the list of states targeted in AFP’s campaign, New Media Director Stephanie Fontenot stated that it was simply a matter of resources and that while energy is a highly salient issue in PA due to the Marcellus Shale, they are going to focus on the initial eight states at the moment.  However, she did mention that it does not mean that PA is off the table for future events.

State Directors have already begun strategizing in Virginia and Florida.  Audrey Jackson, the Virginia AFP State Director, has already planned rallies in McLean, Charlottesville, and Glen Allen detailing how this president’s green energy initiatives are “tanking” America.  In Florida, AFP State Director Slade ‘O Brien stated how energy was critical to Floridians who run their air conditioners nine months out of the year.  He wants to convey a message of hypocrisy that surrounds the Obama Administration on energy concerning the president’s 2008 promise to have an “all of the above” energy policy that is less dependent of foreign oil.  He aptly gave the example of how Obama bashed more traditional forms of energy, such as coal, with his refusal to issue more permits that has hurt the industry.  Or Obama’s failure to fully approve the Keystone Pipeline and offering $2 billion dollars to Brazil to jumpstart their offshore oil exploration program.  As a result, AFP Florida will hold a town hall meeting in Naples on May 1st and a rally in Tampa on May 3rd to address these issues.

In all, AFP is gearing up for war with the meanest, toughest, most vicious political team the conservative movement has ever faced.

The fourth installment of the Obama Files video series on the U.S. Government’s so-called “botched” gun-running scandal. We discuss the Jaime Zapata murder and the insanity of the Obama Administration denying knowledge of a perfidious plan to let guns walk across the borden when ‘Project Gunrunner’ is mentioned by name in the Stimulus Bill and detailed in March of 2009 by Eric Holder’s own Deputy Attorney General David Ogden. Based on the recently published groundbreaking book that may blow the cover off of the Obama Administration: Fast and Furious: Barack Obama’s Bloodiest Scandal and Shameless Cover-up by Katie Pavlich.

The Bloated Government Of America

Barack Obama between flags SC 300x168 The Bloated Government of America

The General Services Administration blew through $820,000 in taxpayers’ money in a lavish ”team building” trip to Las Vegas, and President Barack Obama is “apoplectic” at the news, according to the president’s campaign advisor, David Axelrod. Obama, he says, has devoted his efforts to saving “tens of billions of dollars” in cutting waste, fraud and inefficiency in government. Yet under President Obama’s leadership, government spending keeps growing irresponsibly, and neither he nor his allies in Congress are doing anything about it.

The latest example came last week when Democratic leadership in the Senate again passed the buck on enacting a budget — on April 29, it will have been three years since the Senate last passed a budget resolution. Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-ND),whose job it is to shepherd a budget through the Senate, said of his decision: “This is the wrong time to vote in committee. This is the wrong time to vote on the floor. I don’t think we will be prepared to vote before the election.” Conrad also said that offering a budget would be futile and “would do little to move us closer to a bipartisan agreement that can actually be adopted.”

In other words, budgeting is hard work that he’d rather not do, especially in an election year. Of course, 2011 was not an election year, and yet the Senate failed to pass a budget then, too.

The money that isn’t being budgeted belongs to the American people, and their representatives in the Senate have decided once again that it’s easier to keep on spending without restraint than it is to be responsible to their constituents back home. It’s that very attitude that has led to a government so big and so out of control that scandals like the one in the GSA are able to occur.

The hundreds of thousands of dollars blown in the GSA’s Vegas trip, though, is chump change compared to the hundreds of millions wasted in President Obama’s green jobs stimulus efforts. We all know the story of the bankrupt solar energy company Solyndra and the $520 million taxpayer-funded loan guarantee that went down the drain. But the latest example of wanton waste is Ecotality — a company that manufactures charging stations for the president’s much-favored electric vehicles. Ecotality received more than $115 million to install those charging stations, yet as Heritage’s Lachlan Markay reports, the company is far behind schedule. Now it’s under investigation for insider trading and is facing serious financial difficulties. Even so, the DOE decided to grant the company $26 million in additional funding.

Obama Doubles Down On More Solyndras

Barack Obama 5 SC 300x168 Obama Doubles Down On More Solyndras

Green Energy: Another day and another set of layoffs at a Department of Energy-backed solar company and an electric-car maker funded with stimulus dollars. Yet the President wants to double down on green energy.

First Solar, a solar energy company that received a $1.46 billion loan guarantee from the Department of Energy, announced Monday it will lay off 2,000 workers worldwide. In December, First Solar laid off 100 employees at a Santa Clara , Calif., plant.

The DOE has committed the loan to a project in Riverside County, Calif., expected to create a whopping 15 permanent jobs and 550 construction jobs.

Contrast this boondoggle with the privately funded Keystone XL pipeline, delayed by President Obama over alleged environmental concerns, which would create 20,000 jobs initially and perhaps 10 times that over the life of the project. It will bring 800,000 barrels of oil daily to U.S. refineries, whether the sun shines or not.

Last Friday, Delaware Online reports, 12 more workers — including engineers and maintenance technicians — were laid off at Fisker Automotive’s plant in Wilmington, Del., an old General Motors facility.
