Obama Says Refusing to Hire Hardened Criminals is Racist

Judicial Watch

At the request of a left-wing civil rights group, the government agency that enforces employment discrimination is considering outlawing criminal background checks as a tool to screen job applicants because it presents a hiring barrier for minorities…

Because Hispanics and African Americans have higher rates of arrest and convictions than whites, they suffer discrimination at a disproportionate rate, according to the ACLU. This presents a barrier to hiring and promotion, the group claims, adding that 65 million Americans have a criminal record yet growing numbers of employers refuse to hire people with convictions. At the ACLU’s request the EEOC held a special meeting last week to focus on the economic, social and civil rights implications as the as the agency “considers updating its guidance on background checks.”

Various experts testified that “people of color” are disproportionately affected by the criminal background checks, creating yet another barrier for those returning to their community from the criminal justice system. A Justice Department official who handles “urban affairs” pointed out that a disproportionate number of African Americans have criminal records yet they need to be able to compete for legitimate job opportunities.

A college professor and civil rights attorney thanked the “new leadership” at the EEOC for bringing attention to a “profound civil rights challenge.” In a letter thanking EEOC commissioners, who are appointed by the president, for holding the meeting, the ACLU reminds the agency of a tragedy; “more than 850 reports from women and men around the country who have been refused or dismissed from employment because of their criminal record.” The ACLU also gives the commission “recommendations” to solve the matter.

Eric Holder’s New Witch Hunt

Bob Beauprez, Townhall.com

Eric Holder with crazy eyes

The Department of Justice is executing a “Witch Hunt” against banks. Through the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, Attorney General Eric Holder is forcing banks to “relax their mortgage underwriting standards and approve loans for minorities with poor credit as part of a new crackdown on alleged discrimination,” according to a published report by Investor’s Business Daily after reviewing court documents.

The DOJ has already extorted $20 million for weak and poor credit loans from banks that “settled out of court rather than battle the federal government and risk being branded racist.” The DOJ admits another 60 banks are already under “investigation.” Holder’s demanding the banks sign “non-disclosure” settlement agreements barring them from talking while allowing the DOJ to operate behind a curtain of secrecy.

The settlements already extracted from banks force them to make “prime-rate mortgages to low income blacks and Hispanics” with credit problems, even if they are living on welfare. According to IBD, the DOJ has ordered banks to advertise that minorities cannot be turned down for a loan “because they receive public aid, such as unemployment benefits, welfare payments or food stamps.” No job; no problem!

In other words, the DOJ is forcing banks to make loans to people that they know don’t qualify for them and likely won’t be able to afford to repay them, which is precisely the kind of failed public policy that precipitated the financial collapse and recession in 2008.

The DOJ ordered Midwest BankCentre to provide “special financing” in the predominantly black areas of St. Louis for fixed prime rate conventional home loan financing for borrowers “who would ordinarily not qualify for such rates for reasons including the lack of required credit quality, income or down payment.”

Eric Holder and the head of his Civil Rights Division, Tom Perez were both protégés of Janet Reno who launched a similar attack on banks in the early years of the Clinton Administration. That led to an expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act, CRA, and an explosion of forced lending to low-income, poor credit risk borrowers and the sub-prime mortgage industry that collapsed in 2008. Under the weight of massive guarantees of poor quality and defaulted mortgages, the federal government was forced to seize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. To date about $150 billion has been required to bailout the two agencies to keep them solvent.

Video: Trump Still Skeptical of Obama Birth Certificate

Jeff Poor, The Daily Caller

Now that he’s no longer interested in a run for the White House, at least for the time being, it would make sense for real estate mogul Donald Trump to drop the whole “birther controversy” subject, right?

But Trump isn’t. In an appearance on Wednesday’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” on CNN, Trump revisited the topic and refuted claims of racism. However, he added there are still some questions surrounding President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

“The word racist has not been applied to me, I will tell you that,” Trump said. “But I was very proud of the job I did with respect to the birther issue, because I got Obama to do something which nobody else was able to get him to do. And there’s a real question as to why he took so long to do it. Maybe one of these days you’ll have to ask him why. And you have to check out that document very carefully.”

Democrats Worry New Laws Threaten their Illiterate, Illegal, Dead Voting Base

Danny Tyree, FloydReports.com

According to Newsmax, Republican-controlled state legislatures nationwide are stiffening voting laws with changes that include requiring valid photo identification, restricting early voting and imposing stricter rules on those who can register to vote.

Republicans assert that the changes are to ensure voters are qualified. Democrats counter that the changes are politically motivated and aimed at discouraging young and minority voters – many of whom comprise the party’s base.

Reading between the lines, the Democratic argument boils down to “Many of the people with whom our message resonates most strongly are too lazy, uninformed, or muddle-headed to get out and vote. NOT THAT THERE’S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.”

Yes, the Democrats have learned to steal the thunder of the GOP’s patented patriotism angle. (“Our military personnel bled and died that we might have our freedoms. And now the heartless Republicans expect our citizens to get off their couches and vote in a narrow one-week window…Uh, maybe I’d better just stop talking.”)

The Democrats insist that the Republicans are….

The Myth of “Underfunded” Minority Schools

Kevin “Coach” Collins, FloydReports.com

At the dawn of the Obama era, in anticipation of an increase in their “take” from government, black civic and religious leaders in Chicago started to chant the familiar phrase “inner city schools are underfunded.” Given the willingness of Americans to attribute uneven results to uneven fundamentals and the knee-jerk support for this premise it gets from the media “underfunding is the cause of underperformance” is automatically accepted as true by most people. Nationally schools with a predominately black student body receive 105% of the “white school” baseline while Asians get 107% of what White receive and Hispanics recieve about the same as white students. By region the story changes dramatically. In the Northeast blacks get 16% more funding than Whites, Asians receive 12% more funding and Hispanics top all groups with 17% more funding than whites. In the Southern region, blacks students….
