Fed Funding for La Raza Skyrockets After Obama Hires Its VP

Judicial Watch

A Judicial Watch investigation reveals that federal funding for a Mexican La Raza group that for years has raked in millions of taxpayer dollars has skyrocketed since one of its top officials got a job in the Obama White House.

The influential and politically-connected National Council of La Raza (NCLR) has long benefited from Uncle Sam’s largess but the group has made a killing since Obama hired its senior vice president, Cecilia Muñoz, in 2009 to be his director of intergovernmental affairs.

Ignored by the mainstream media, Judicial Watch covered the appointment because the president issued a special “ethics waiver” to bring Muñoz aboard since it violated his own lobbyist ban. At the pro illegal immigration NCLR, Muñoz supervised all legislative and advocacy activities on the state and local levels and she was heavily involved in the congressional immigration battles that took place in the George W. Bush Administration.

She also brought in a steady flow of government cash that’s allowed the Washington D.C.-based group to expand nationwide and promote its leftist, open-borders agenda via a network of community organizations dedicated to serving Latinos. Among them are a variety of local groups that provide social services, housing counseling and farm worker assistance as well as publicly-funded charter schools that promote radical Chicano curriculums. Judicial Watch published a special report on this a few years ago.

This week a JW probe has uncovered details of the alarming increase in federal funding that these NCLR groups have received since Muñoz joined the Obama administration. In fact, the government cash more than doubled the year Muñoz joined the White House, from $4.1 million to $11 million.

Not surprisingly, a big chunk of the money (60 percent) came from the Department of Labor, which is headed by a former California congresswoman, Hilda Solis, with close ties to the La Raza movement….

The Media’s “Experts” Always Err in Obama’s Favor

Kevin “Coach” Collins, FloydReports.com

In 1954 a genius with a sharp eye for talent advised a young Elvis Presley, “You ain’t goin’ nowhere, Son. You ought to go back to drivin’ a truck.”

Everyday we are bombarded with news of shocked “experts” having to once again admit they were wrong. In most cases this hapless bunch of Charlie Browns isn’t any more expert than the man who dismissed Presley. So we don’t lose sight of their embarrassing claptrap, here are a few “expert” predictions we have been insulted with recently.

In spite of “expert” sentiment to the contrary, America’s manufacturing sector has slowed “more than expected” and in fact has fallen to September 2009 levels. The geniuses at the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) didn’t just miss this one their expectation was barely in the same area code. The ISM expected its growth index would fall 2.7, not the actual 6.9 points it tumbled.

The 38,000 new private sector jobs added in May provide another example of surprised “experts” having to stammer out an explanation of how they could be so wrong.

In May private sector companies in the U.S. added fewer workers than forecast by….

Sex Change You Can Believe In! Obama Enacts Transgender Policies by Executive Fiat

Ben Johnson, FloydReports.com

HUD's new ad campaign promoting transgender rights.

Call it sex-change you can believe in. This author reported Tuesday that Barack Obama had held the first-ever White House transgender conference last Friday. The People’s House conducted this proud meeting in such complete secrecy that we know the identity of only one attendee, Mara Keisling of the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE), a group lobbying for “a comprehensive civil rights bill that protects people from discrimination based on gender identity.” The measure, which would forbid private individuals from refusing to do business with or rent a home to a cross-dresser, is but one of many extremist policies that earned NCTE a meeting with White House brass. The U.S. Civil Rights Commission is now planning to “hold its first-ever hearing to specifically address the civil rights of LGBT people.” Despite these “firsts,” the Obama administration has already advanced transgender interest groups through a series of executive fiats. If you don’t believe me, believe The Huffington Post. It remarked that a recent housing proposal “marks the latest in a string of Obama administration attempts to enhance gay rights through federal regulation.” Some of the administration’s actions literally redefine the government’s definition of the family, stifle any opposition to gender confusion, and encourage schoolchildren to think of transgender practices as normal and mainstream (or else).

The First Transgender Appointee?

Last January, Obama named Amanda Simpson the Senior Technical Advisor to the Commerce Department. Simpson, who served as a test pilot and longtime employee of Raytheon before becoming a “woman,” sits on NCTE’s board of directors. The move was thought to be the first-ever transgender presidential appointment.

During his budget showdown with John Boehner, Obama (and Boehner) managed to see that LGBT programs escaped deep budget cuts. Aside from these two matters, Obama has chosen to act through federal regulation, having government agencies write new rules without sullying his own hands. His administration has proven indefatigable in pursuing transgender concerns.

Thoughtcrime, Obama-Style

Last Thursday, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis (an Open Borders advocate) issued the department’s new harassment policy, which applies not only to the department but to all its “contractors at every level.” It bans….

Conflict of Interest: Obama Appoints Fmr. SEIU Lawyer to Investigate Union Corruption

Don Loos, BigGovernment.com

Has President Barack Obama been deceiving America, with his Ethics Executive Order 13490? It certainly appears that the actions of the Obama Administration are far from his recent statement that he has “put into place the toughest ethics laws of any Administration in history [pause] in history.” A host of Obama’s appointments call into question the President’s commitment to his own Ethics Order. Appointments such as U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Sec. Hilda Solis, DOL Deputy Solicitor Deborah Greenfield, and NLRB Board member Craig Becker undermine Obama’s claim of “toughest ethics.”

Now, the National Right To Work Committee introduces John Lund, Obama’s “overseer” of union financial reporting and disclosure at DOL’s Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS). This Obama appointee is a former director of the now-defunct Pacific Northwest Labor College, a former SEIU union employee , a fomer IUOE union employee, and former director of the University of Wisconsin School for Workers. Lund’s appointment means that he is now in charge of investigating financial mismanagement and irregularities by the very labor union officials he has trained for decades. Big Labor Payback Job One for Obama

Even though Obama campaigned on transparency and a focus on ethics, cronies at DOL focused on eliminating basic financial union disclosure and union officials’ conflict-of-interest disclosures requirements.

At DOL, John Lund cut the number of labor union investigators, rescinded disclosure of union officer benefits, eliminated financial reporting for unions like the Wisconsin Education Association Council, and eliminated conflict-of-interest reporting for thousands of union officials. Each of these actions benefits Big Labor Bosses, but undercuts those forced to pay union dues and fees as a condition of employment.

John Lund Conflicts-of-Interest

The Obama Ethics Executive Order requires appointees to pledge that they will refrain from involvement in matters involving their former employer or clients. The AFL-CIO and other unions are former clients of John Lund, and these unions remain clients of his former and current employer, the University of Wisconsin School for Workers (Lund is currently on unpaid leave while at DOL). The Wisconsin School for Workers’ primary mission is to train union officials; the very officials that Lund now purportedly investigates for corruption.

The following highlights are but a few that The National Right To Work Committee has unearthed to illustrate Lund’s conflicts-of-interest….

Video of the Day: How Obama will Harass Businesses for Union Thugs

Don Todd of Americans for Limited Government says he has received information about a pact between the Obama administration and Big Labor to harass employers who do not submit to card-check union organizing. He explains it here. This purported plan merely represents the latest collusion between the Obama administration and Big Labor:
