New York Times Discovers Project Gunrunner — and Blames Gun Owners

Doug Book,

Like most of the American media, Pinch Sulzberger’s New York Times has ignored the ATF’s Fast and Furious and Gunrunner scandals for months. The fact that one or more Obama Regime members at the Justice Department encouraged other Obama Regime members at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to sell thousands of weapons to illegal straw purchasers for Mexican drug cartels and then assist in transporting the guns across the border…well these just aren’t the sort of stories that grace the Times’ front page.

After all, Pinch’s pride and joy isn’t known for reporting that its favorite political party is responsible for the deaths of countless Mexicans and at least two American federal employees.

Sure, back in February the Times wrote, “the Obama administration must awake to the urgent need to combat the illegal trafficking of assault weapons across the border.” But then, the “Paper of Record” probably didn’t know it was the Obama administration itself that was doing the trafficking!

But Pinch has finally broken silence on the scandals, mainly because congressional committees of Senator Charles Grassley and Representative Darrell Issa have used testimony from ATF whistleblowers to publicly barbecue some of his favorite Obama apparatchiks. And that means the Times must ride to the rescue to straighten out the reading public.

So with its usual attention to fact and detail, the Times has reported that the deliberate, Regime-initiated sale of more than 2,000 weapons to known straw purchasers is actually the result of….

Is Project Gunrunner Gun Control Chicago-Style?

Doug Book,

We owe John Dodson a great deal of gratitude. Here’s why.

On March 30th, Barack Obama assured gun confiscation advocate Sarah Brady of his ongoing efforts to undermine the 2nd Amendment rights of the American people.

“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Obama told Brady during her visit at the White House. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

Of course, the meaning of “under the radar” to a skilled practitioner of “The Chicago Way” will translate into operations which are corrupt, underhanded, bereft of common decency and perhaps regard for human life. Most importantly, there will be an appearance of “noble intent” should the crimes be discovered.

Enter Projects Gunrunner, Fast and Furious and John Dodson

Originally exposed in early March by ATF employee and whistle blower John Dodson, these ATF intrigues….

Back Door Gun Control is Here

Mike Piccione, Human Events

Back door gun control is the phenomena where an entity will enact a law that indirectly affects your right to keep and bear arms. It’s easier to pass legislation that harms Second Amendment rights when it does not directly require the citizen to surrender a gun.

Examples of back door gun control are:

Define ammo components as an unhealthy threat. Environmental laws designed to outlaw the use of ingredients that comprise components of arms related materials. The easiest example to point to is lead. Lead has long been the primary ingredient of bullets. Designating lead as an environmental hazard means that its use can be tightly controlled, and therefore restricted. Restrict lead and you restrict bullet production. Restrict bullet production and you dilute the ability to purchase ammo through increased materials cost.

Tax it if it shoots. In 1993 New York Senate Democrat, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, proposed that taxes on handgun ammunition be raised to 50 percent on most handgun ammunition and 10,000 percent on 9mm hollow points. Taxes are the quick and dirty way to legislate something out of existence. Currently there is an 11 percent tax on ammo.

Engineer the practicality out of it. Force manufacturers to have a biometric mechanism that prohibits anyone but the owner to operate the firearm. Effectively you need a computer chip somewhere enclosed in the firearm that is smart enough to recognize one user from the other and will enable the gun to fire by the proper finger. I hope the gun is forgiving enough so that when your wife grabs your gun to stop a bad guy that just broke in the house it fires….

Mexico Sues U.S. Gun Manufacturers Over Obama Program

Doug Brook,

Not content to pack off millions of miscreants, impoverished, or labor-averse citizens to the welcoming, welfare-bestowing arms of the United States government, Mexican President Felipe Calderon has decided to hold Americans responsible for his nation’s crime rate, as well. On November 2, 2010, Calderon retained the New York law firm of Reid, Collins, and Tsai to sue American gun manufacturers and dealers for the reputed massive influx of weapons into the otherwise zephyr-swept Shangri-La of Mexico.

“We seized more than 90,000 weapons…I am talking like 50,000 assault weapons, AR 15 machine guns, more than 8,000 grenades and almost 10 million bullets…The ones we are able to track, most of these are American weapons,” claimed El Presidente to CBS reporter Peter Greenberg.

The fact that American gun dealers don’t sell machine guns or grenades seemed to have little effect on the statement or CBS’s desire to run the story….
