Food Stamps For Tattoos, Porn, Manicures, And Bail Money

Tattoo SC Food Stamps for Tattoos, Porn, Manicures, and Bail Money

There was a time when there were standards for getting food stamps (now EBT cards). The food stamp program was designed to help families with the necessities. You couldn’t buy anything you want with food stamps.

When my oldest son worked at a grocery store, he was indignant when a woman came through the checkout line with foods that were not permitted to be purchased with food stamps. She protested to the manager. He let it pass. What does he care? He’ll get his money no matter a food-stamp holder purchases.

More than 45 million people – 15 percent – are on food stamps. That’s about one-sixth of the population. A general rule of economics is, “The more money you throw at a program, the more you get of it.” Is it any wonder that obesity is America’s number-one health problem? Maybe Mayor Bloomberg should be looking at EBT cards as the problem for obesity and not Big-Gulp drinks.

It’s now worse than this, at least in Massachusetts. “If you are a tax payer in Massachusetts, you get to fund EBT cards for those who want to buy tattoos, manicures, body piercings or porn.” The legislature had the good sense to stop the madness, but it seems that Governor Deval Patrick had other ideas.

“According to the Boston Herald, which first reported the veto, the governor berated the legislature’s stab at banning the purchase of specific items like manicures, tattoos, guns, porn, body piercings, jewelry, and bail by saying the move was ‘political grandstanding’ at a time when such reforms are already on track elsewhere.”

Michigan Man Still on Food Stamps After Winning $2 Million Lottery

WJBK, Fox News Detroit

A Michigan man has continued to accept food aid from the state even though he won big in a state lottery game and said he told officials about it.

Leroy Fick won the $2 million jackpot in the “Make Me Rich!” contest in June. Despite receiving about $850,000 in winnings, the Auburn resident is still using his Michigan Bridge Card, an electronic version of food stamps.

Fick’s lawyer said his client hasn’t done anything illegal.

“He did call the state,” John Wilson, the Midland attorney representing Fick, told The Bay City Times for a story Wednesday. “Not to mention, the state knows he won. They issued the check.”

Further, Wilson said, Fick’s case was recently reviewed and his eligibility was confirmed.

“It’s not him,” Wilson said. “As far as him doing the right thing by the (Department of Human Services), he did the right thing.”

Obama’s Economy is Making You Poor

Floyd and Mary Beth Brown, FloydReports.com

While Barack Obama spends his time running victory laps around the country over the killing of Osama bin Laden, the American economy is careening toward a dangerous cliff. Royal Weddings, Obama’s multiple birth certificates, and absurd arguments about the NFL lockout dominate the news while daily Americans get poorer.

Obamanomics is a disaster. A greater disaster hasn’t been visited on the United States in our economic history because we are taking no substantial steps toward recovery. The real news, which should be screaming from every television and newspaper isn’t pro-Obama; therefore, it is ignored.

Here are the stories on which we should be focusing. The U.S. dollar has slumped to a record low against major currencies. Since we have devastated our manufacturing base over the last two decades, this will result in Americans paying substantially more for goods on the store shelves in retailers from Wal-Mart to Costco.

The outlook for the recovery has diminished to almost zero. If you subtract the impact of inflation, many economists believe we are actually still in a recession. When I talk to my friends and neighbors outside of Washington, D.C., we unanimously agree we are still in recession.

Here are some statistics which will help you understand the pain. More Americans are on food stamps today than at any other time in history. That’s right—the most in history. The number of persons on food stamps is 44.2 million, according a recent report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Cloward-Piven, Here We Come: Obama’s Food Stamp Enrollment Corps

Michelle Malkin, MichelleMalkin.com

So much for the new era of fiscal responsibility. The federal government’s dependency drones have been spared the chopping block. After vowing to eliminate funding for President Obama’s bloated $6 billion AmeriCorps social justice army, House Republicans retreated — and will shrink the AmeriCorps budget by a minuscule 6.7 percent.

Politicians originally sold AmeriCorps as an alternative to big government — a program to “renew the ethic of civic responsibility and the spirit of community throughout the United States.” With bipartisan support, the program has morphed into an all-purpose progressive slush fund. Instead of reining in the national service boondoggle, Washington has turned taxpayer-subsidized helping hands into a legion of Nanny State handout helpers. Goodbye, AmeriCorps. Hello, FoodStampCorps.

Yes, across the Internet, the feds are recruiting AmeriCorps VISTA (“Volunteers in Service to America”) workers to apply for jobs as publicists for the welfare state. Their mission: to sign up as many people to federal food stamp rolls as possible. Because, you know, the record-breaking 12 million that have been added since Obama took office is apparently not good enough.

Here’s a typical job ad in Boston: “AMERICORPS VISTA: FOOD STAMP COORDINATOR (INTERNSHIP) Through this project, the Elderly Commission will be able to provide information, assistance and support to senior citizens of Boston in applying for food stamps. Develop a full knowledge of the Food Stamp program and application process. Assist seniors in senior housing and community centers to fill out Food Stamp applications; assist seniors with gathering necessary proofs together for applications; follow up with the Department of Transitional Assistance to ensure seniors receive awarded benefits. Recruit volunteers to be trained on the application of the Food Stamp program.”

In New York, Philadelphia and a total of 30 sites across the country, AmeriCorps and the Department of Agriculture are funding the “National Anti-Hunger and Opportunity Corps” to “increase access to food stamps.”

National Affairs managing editor Meghan Clyne reports that the administration is roping in left-wing churches to aggressively promote food stamps.

Should I Go on Food Stamps?

Michael Reagan, Floyd Reports

I’m thinking of putting my family on food stamps, because Nancy Pelosi, in her wisdom, has assured us that doing so will help the economy and as a concerned American I want to do my part.

I wish I’d been aware of this years ago. I could have stopped working and lived on the dole and I would have avoided years of a lot of just-plain drudgery.

Just think, back in those lean years when I was driving back and forth every day between Los Angeles and San Diego to broadcast to the only two stations carrying my radio show for what amounted to a small pittance — baseball caps.

It got so onerous I begged my mother, Jane Wyman, for help. She said, “Shut up and keep driving.” So that’s what I did. Now I wonder why. I could have gotten on the welfare gravy train years ago and lived a life of ease.

An old board game known as known as “Public Assistance — Why Bother Working for a Living?” was banned back in the ‘80s, I guess for being politically incorrect. Anyway, it’s now been revived. It acts as a guide for getting on the dole, for boarding the welfare gravy train.

It’s been rechristened “Obozo’s America: Why Bother Working For A Living?”
