Darrell Issa: Fast & Furious Goes Much Higher than the ATF

Matthew Boyle, The Daily Caller

A spokesman for House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa told The Daily Caller the congressman expects his investigations into the Justice Department’s gun walking programs to point to a much higher political appointee than acting ATF director Kenneth Melson. Melson is widely expected to resign some time in the next couple of days in the face of political pressure from Issa’s investigations into Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast Furious.

Even if Melson resigns, Issa spokesman Frederick Hill said the Committee expects to find much more and continue with investigations. “The investigations are far from over,” Hill told TheDC. “It’s quite certain that Kenneth Melson was not the principal architect of this plan nor was he the only high-ranking official who knew about and authorized this operation.” (WHAT DID THEY KNOW? Project Gunrunner and Operation Fast and Furious were programs that involved ATF officials allowing guns to be taken into Mexico with the ultimate apparent goal of tracking the larger Mexican drug cartels’ arms market. The ATF officials allowed the sale of guns to “straw purchasers,” or people who were eligible to purchase guns in the U.S. but were doing so with the known intention of trafficking them into Mexico.

This latest development comes after Issa told Fox News on Tuesday morning that he thinks Melson should resign.

The Very Bad Week in D.C.

Michael Oberndorf, FloydReports.com

It’s been another one of those weeks, when every day has brought a new jaw-dropping revelation about the unbridled, unmitigated, unabashed corruption of what formerly was “our” government. We have an election coming in a year and a half, and we clearly have our work cut out for ourselves. Let’s make a brief summary of the abuse America has been subjected to this week by her self-appointed, and self-anointed “leaders.”

The cesspool that used to be the Senate voted 95-5 for a blatantly unconstitutional bill, misleadingly named the America Invents Act, S. 23. This bill destroys over 200 years of patent protections for American inventors, and imposes, instead, “global standards” that amount to a giveaway of American inventions to the Chinese. Phyllis Schlafly has been warning about this bill and its consequences for some time, but her astute analysis has apparently been ignored by the smarter-than-the-average-rocks in the Senate. In her latest piece, she goes into the unconstitutionality of this new outrage. It is well worth a look, since it’s clear the Senate didn’t.

In another sleight-of-hand move, the Senate voted to approve an amendment to….

Is Project Gunrunner Gun Control Chicago-Style?

Doug Book, FloydReports.com

We owe John Dodson a great deal of gratitude. Here’s why.

On March 30th, Barack Obama assured gun confiscation advocate Sarah Brady of his ongoing efforts to undermine the 2nd Amendment rights of the American people.

“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Obama told Brady during her visit at the White House. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

Of course, the meaning of “under the radar” to a skilled practitioner of “The Chicago Way” will translate into operations which are corrupt, underhanded, bereft of common decency and perhaps regard for human life. Most importantly, there will be an appearance of “noble intent” should the crimes be discovered.
