Hillary Fights Hard to Keep Taxpayers Funding Foreign Abortion, Pakistan, and Cuba

Ben Johnson, The White House Watch

In these times of crushing debt loads, families are cutting back and prioritizing every dollar they spend. Yet the Obama administration is lashing out in a public way against efforts by House Republicans to rein in spending on overseas abortions and foreign aid to corrupt anti-American regimes.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is aggressively lobbying Congress to drop several amendments to the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, which she claims would be “debilitating” to her foreign policy. Madam Secretary vowed to “recommend personally” that Obama veto the bill in a letter to Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-FL.

At the top of Hillary’s list is the bill’s provision to ban U.S. taxpayers from funding foreign organizations that perform or promote abortion overseas. Otherwise known as the Mexico City Policy, which Ronald Reagan instituted in 1984, public financing of foreign abortions has been a political football for decades: Reagan instituted the policy, which remained in effect through the George H.W. Bush administration. Bill Clinton revoked it during his first week in office. George W. Bush reinstated the policy as one of his first actions, and in his first week in office, Barack Obama again rescinded it — by executive order, naturally.

In April, John Boehner passed a budget amendment reducing the amount of taxpayer dollars sent to the United Nations Family Planning Agency (UNFPA) by $15 million (to $40 million). It spent $575 million on international “family planning” and population control, less than the $648 million Congress authorized in 2010. This caused Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards to squeal that the Republicans had opened a war against “human rights.”

The Obama administration is fighting similar attempts to defund Planned Parenthood in the United States.

Of course during a time of unbearable public indebtedness and when the nation teeters on the precipice of default, the question is why is Congress spending a dime on abortion, let alone abortions around the world?

The answer is political cronyism and out of control feminism. Obama wants to keep the taxpayer-funding spigot flowing to his political supporters and Democratic Party contributors. And Hillary has spent a lifetime opposing the most fundamental right any woman should enjoy: the right to be born.

It is not the abortion funding ban alone that irks the former first lady. The bill slashes funding for the Global Climate Change Initiative — another boondoggle for the international Green Left.

She seems eerily fixated on the possibility the bill would deny funding to corrupt or violent foreign regimes. Hillary howls that….

Obama’s Justice Dept. Goes All Out — to Bust an Anti-Communist CIA Agent

Judicial Watch

Fidel Castro's Public Enemy #1 is an Obama Target

With a military officer from a terrorist-sponsoring nation and a washed out journalist as key witnesses, the Obama Justice Department has suffered an embarrassing defeat after dedicating infinite resources to prosecute an elderly CIA operative who fought communism.

The 83-year-old, Luis Posada Carriles, once worked to destabilize communist governments throughout Latin America and the Obama administration was determined to convict him for something. So the Justice Department mounted quite a performance during a 13-week trial in El Paso Texas, flying in a lieutenant colonel from Cuba, which for years has appeared on the U.S. State Department’s list of terrorist-sponsoring nations, to testify against him.

The government’s other star witness was a notoriously left-wing author, Ann Louise Bardach, who once worked for the New York Times and has written several favorable books about Cuba’s oppressive communist regime. Bardach testified that more than a decade ago Carriles bragged about his anti-Castro militancy, which supposedly included organizing bombings in Havana to scare tourists and blowing up a jetliner in the 1970s.

Frail and somewhat decrepit, Carriles had been charged by the feds with nearly a dozen counts of perjury, obstruction of justice and immigration fraud….

“Why Do We Need to Pay Them to Hate Us?” Obama’s Foreign Aid Policy Makes No Sense

Kevin “Coach” Collins, FloydReports.com

Recently Texas Republican Congressman Ted Poe reintroduced an idea whose time might have finally come. He addressed Congress asking that we review the foreign aid we are sending to countries around the world, with the purpose of cutting most of it.  Referring to the many countries with their hands out looking for foreign aid, Poe asked a direct question: “Why do we need to pay them to hate us?”

Poe’s fact-filled, but brief, speech contained some compelling points.

We are giving foreign aid money, our tax dollars, to 150 of the 192 countries of the world. Some of these counties are ungratefu,l but most of the biggest recipients are outright hostile toward us and can fairly be accused of hating us.

Among the countries Poe singled out were Venezuela and Cuba, which gets $20 million of our money….

Is There an Iranian Missile Base in Cuba?

Chet Nagle, The Daily Caller

Hugo Chavez, the yanqui-hating dictator of Venezuela, will not accept Washington’s proposed emissary and has dared the United States to break diplomatic relations. It seems Ambassador-select Larry Palmer’s sin is that he did not applaud Chavez when he used his rubber-stamp parliament to perpetuate his dictatorial regime. The State Department’s limp-wristed response was to cancel the visa of the Venezuelan ambassador. That, and silence from the White House, told the megalomaniac in Caracas exactly what the United States will do when Iran finishes building a nuclear missile base in Venezuela — absolutely nothing.

Like Marxist Fidel Castro was in the 1960s, Caudillo Chavez is today’s darling of American liberals and the international left. They are enchanted with his underclass roots, his anti-imperialist posturing, and insults he hurls at the United States in media shows that are crowd-pleasing combinations of Keith Olbermann rants and videos of “The Big Guy from Brooklyn.” More ominously, Chavez has imitated Castro, and like Fidel he has found a big brother to give him the nuclear military clout to dominate Latin America: The Islamic Republic of Iran.

Planning for Iran’s penetration of the Western Hemisphere is well underway.

Human Rights Violators Prepare to Criticize U.S. at the UN

Ben Johnson, FloydReports.com

Thanks to the Obama administration, the United Nations is prepared to judge American “human rights violations” tomorrow in Geneva. And human rights violators are lining up to testify against the United States.

Cuba, Venezuela, and Iran have lined up to criticize the Land of the Free during a three-hour hearing before the UN Human Rights Council scheduled for tomorrow in Geneva. The “universal periodic review” hearing – which is presided over by a troika of nations including France, Japan, and Cameroon – sets aside two hours for criticism by foreign nations. According to UN sources, Cuba began aggressively lobbying its allies to take America down a peg during the proceedings.

Other nations that have expressed a desire to speak out include North Korea, China, Libya, Egypt, and Russia.

Zohreh Elahian, a member of Iran’s UN delegation, said the motley crew of witnesses intends….
