In a profanity-laced interview with GQ magazine, disgraced politician Anthony Weiner discussed the scandal for which he is best known. The Democrat, a former congressman and New York City mayoral candidate, infamously sent explicit and sexual messages to women over a number of years.
The controversy forced his resignation from the U.S. House in 2011; and during his mayoral campaign earlier this year, revelations surfaced that his lewd behavior continued in intervening years.
Dismissing his actions as “meaningless,” Weiner described sending the pornographic content as “almost like a video game you played.”
Though he apparently has no qualms with a married man showing countless women photos of his genitals, Weiner conceded that his wife, Huma Abedin, does.
Saying his transgression was “not very significant to me,” he noted that “it’s significant to Huma.”
Showing the love and compassion any woman would want in a mate, he concluded that the emotional turmoil he has caused his wife “kinda matters.”
At some point, he said he realized that his reprehensible actions were actually not “like playing an online role-playing game” after all.
His utter disconnect with reality is evident in his correlation of such immoral behavior with a harmless video game. On the other hand, this could be just his latest ploy to deflect attention away from his own outrageous behavior.
Leftists facing a scandal will typically resort to any conceivable measure in their effort to shirk responsibility.
Weiner also stuck to the progressive playbook by steering the interview towards his own aggrandizement. Though he was all but tarred and feathered as he exited his position in the House, Weiner played up the notion he is simply above it all.
“Congress just isn’t a good job anymore,” he complained, claiming he was “a pretty important member of Congress” and had “figured out the outside game pretty well.”
Another reason for his purported success in politics, he added, is the fact that he is a “good talker about stuff.” Apparently, that quality was temporarily suspended as he made the comment.
He made his final proclamation — one that his detractors will actually agree with — by declaring himself a “soulless vessel.”
