Race Hustlers Prove Once And For All They Have No Sense Of Humor

The race-obsessed radicals of the Southern Poverty Law Center continue to find ostensible evidence of discrimination and bigotry around every corner. Like many other relics of the civil rights era, this organization was created with noble intentions and, as America’s segregationist past fades further into history, now struggles to prove its relevancy.

This week, the SPLC attacked comments made during a roast honoring “America’s toughest sheriff,” Joe Arpaio. The event, which was held last weekend to close the 2014 Western Conservative Conference, featured several Arpaio supporters telling jokes at the sheriff’s expense.

Following tradition, the roast was punctuated by irreverent humor and satire with the common understanding that such comments were not intended to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, those whose life and career revolve around stoking America’s racial discord were unable – or unwilling – to make the distinction.

The law center carefully selected a couple of jokes made by Arizona State Rep. John Kavanagh, who spoke for a total of about 20 minutes, which it then published in an effort to paint him as a racist.

A post on the SPLC’s website made wild accusations about Kavanagh, suggesting he “couldn’t resist” taking the roast “in a racist direction” by mentioning Arpaio’s firm stance against illegal immigration.

The congressman, in a reference to Arpaio’s age, suggested “he was rounding up Hispanics because he had a grudge from the Spanish-American War.”

To the humorless race-baiters of the law center, this amounted to “making light of the racial profiling and unjustified detentions carried out by Arpaio’s department.”

The post included a clip of the segment and a few other good-natured jabs meant only to honor the conservative lawman. In conclusion, the SPLC offered one final judgment on both Kavanagh and Arpaio, saying both men “dehumanize immigrants and treat Latinos like second-class citizens.”

For his part, Kavanagh rightfully defended his comments, insisting the law center not only missed the point of a roast but willfully misinterpreted his intent.

“The Southern Poverty Law Center edited out selected portions of a much longer roast on many topics not related to racial profiling,” he asserted. “The humor was typical of roasts and had I made the same jokes against Sheriff Arpaio at their annual dinner, I suspect that they would have been laughing as much as this audience laughed.”

He added that “had these jokes been made on a TV comedy or variety show, there would also be no controversy.”

Of course, when a conservative Republican is involved, the SPLC and other extreme leftist organizations will stop at nothing to spread unfounded accusations of some inherent bigotry. Arpaio himself pointed out the hypocrisy, explaining no one came to his defense when his political opponents “called [him] Nazi and Hitler.”

If civil rights groups were truly interested in equality, he noted, they would have defended him against such attacks. Instead, it seems they are interested only in adding to the cacophony of wild speculation aimed in his direction.

“Why isn’t there an uproar about going after me, calling me every name in the book?” he asked. “Why are they worried about just some roast?”

The SPLC’s accusations made headlines across the nation, with organizations such as CNN offering the law center a typically welcoming forum to air its grievances. In the comments section, however, ordinary Americans offered a sense of sanity by generally defending Kavanagh’s jokes as a perfectly natural addition to the roast.

“If people aren’t getting offended,” one commenter wrote, “it’s not a roast.”

Another individual suggested that “[l]iberals need to be ‘offended’ and ‘deeply outraged’ at least a dozen times per days [sic].”

The life of a modern race hustler, constantly searching for bigotry where none exists, is likely a depressing existence. Still, there is no excuse for purposely misrepresenting a lighthearted roast in a pathetic attempt to ruin the reputation of one’s political opponents.

It has long been suspected that Obama is using propaganda circulated by the roundly discredited Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a left-wing extremist group that, in recent years, has adopted two primary goals: 1) raising truckloads of money and 2) smearing as “domestic hate groups” dozens of mainstream Christian ministries like the Family Research Council (FRC) and the American Family Association (AFA.)
