Plans To Drug Test Welfare Recipients Get Momentum

Conservatives who say welfare recipients should have to pass a drug test in order to receive government assistance have momentum on their side.

The issue has come up in the Republican presidential campaign, with front-runner Mitt Romney saying “it’s an excellent idea.”

Nearly two dozen states are considering plans this session that would make drug testing mandatory for welfare recipients, according to the National Council of State Legislatures. And Wyoming lawmakers advanced such a proposal this week.

Driving the measures is a perception that people on public assistance are misusing the funds and that cutting off their benefits would save money for tight state budgets — even as statistics have largely proved both notions untrue.

Oh, and while we are at it. Stop paying for the nails, hair salons, cell phones, baby diapers, alcohol, newspapers, mnagazines, like JET, etc., X-boxes, flat TV screens, section eight apartments, free utilities, free birth control pills, abortions. Oh!, heck, just tell these bums to get off their butts and find work. You know what happens when a water pipe breaks in a house? You first turn off the source of the water flow (money flow). Than the flooding stops (people find work real fast). It's called going cold turkey, kick the welfare habit you bums. Stop thinking that you are intitled from craddle to grave. Lazy bums.

    Bad idea here people.
Forget about drug users on welfare. Lets look at the next phase of this testing. Under the guise of testing for illegal drugs, they do genetic testing to see what your chances are of life changing illnesses. They now use this information on you to decide what "heath care" you will be entitled to. That is, your genetic testing shows you are 75% at risk for back problems and 90% probability you will get diabetes. Your hypertension meds won't be paid for since you have great odds for diabetes. You will be a "burden" in the future of the health care system.
Think this can't happen? Think again. in 2001, BNSF Railroad was sued for this very same issue. Under the guise of a random drug test, employees had genetic testing done without their permission. This information was later used against them when they were injured on the job. (They were already predisposed to having a wrist problem, how are they sure it was because of the job?)
Drug testing may sound harmless enough. Think about what else they can do with your "sample". We can't give ANY freedoms away.

There were 3 men waiting for a bus ride in Montana, a cowboy, an indian and a muslim.
The cowboy trying to make small talk asked the other two how life was treating them. The indian not really wanting a conversation says "Once before you cowboys came we were many and now we are few."
The muslim sees his chance and tells the other two, "Once we were few and now we are many, so watch your back."
The cowboy looks up at the muslim and says. "We ain't played cowboys and muslims yet."
