Regardless of the radial left’s continued attempts to discredit and silence her, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin remains a solid voice of conservatism and common sense in the bizarre world of American politics. While her detractors have tried to portray her as an intellectual lightweight since she gained national prominence as John McCain’s running mate during the 2008 presidential election, she has been able to prove her opponents wrong at every turn.
For example, her 2008 prediction that Russia might invade the Ukraine under an Obama administration was met with resounding ridicule from many leftist pundits.
“After the Russian army invaded the nation of Georgia,” she said at the time, “Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.”
Over the past week, however, she was vindicated as the unsettling forecast became a reality.
During a recent Fox News interview with Sean Hannity, Palin expanded on her statements from nearly six years ago by contrasting the world’s view of Russian president Vladimir Putin with that of Barack Obama.
“Obama,” she said, “the perception of him and his potency across the world, is one of such weakness.”
That weakness was the primary reason she projected Obama’s election would set the stage for the current military action in the Ukraine.
“Look, people are looking at Putin as one who wrestles bears and drills for oil,” she said. “They look at our president as one who wears mom jeans and equivocates and bloviates.”
Obama apparently failed to recognize the potential threat Russia posed in the region and beyond and, with the current unrest in the Crimea, has proven to be a woefully ineffective world leader.
During his 2012 presidential battle with Mitt Romney, Obama dismissed concerns about Russia. Palin continued her pointed attack by insisting a competent leader would have been able to see the danger lurking in Putin’s Russia.
“Anyone who carries the common sense gene would know that Putin doesn’t change his stripes,” she said. “He hearkens back to the era of the czars and he wants that Russian empire to grow again.”
Meanwhile, America is suffering under the ostensible leadership of a chief executive determined to shrink our military and decrease our influence around the world.
Leftist intellectuals used Palin’s folksy speaking style as supposed evidence of her inability to lead this nation. Since Obama’s election, however, she has routinely proven herself far more in tune with matters foreign and domestic, explaining sometimes difficult and complex truths using common language any American can understand.
Those who remain beholden to Obama and his mission simply remain willfully ignorant to the facts presented by Palin and her conservative counterparts.
