A former Marine involuntarily detained for psychiatric evaluation for posting strident anti-government messages on Facebook has received an outpouring of support from people who say authorities are trampling on his First Amendment rights.
Brandon J. Raub, 26, has been in custody since FBI, Secret Service agents and police in Virginia’s Chesterfield County questioned him Thursday evening about what they said were ominous posts talking about a coming revolution. In one message earlier this month according to authorities, Raub wrote: “Sharpen my axe; I’m here to sever heads.”
Police — acting under a state law that allows emergency, temporary psychiatric commitments upon the recommendation of a mental health professional — took Raub to the John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. He was not charged with any crime.
A Virginia-based civil liberties group, The Rutherford Institute, dispatched one of its attorneys to the hospital to represent Raub at a hearing Monday. A judge ordered Raub detained for another month, Rutherford executive director John Whitehead said.
“For government officials to not only arrest Brandon Raub for doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights but to actually force him to undergo psychological evaluations and detain him against his will goes against every constitutional principle this country was founded upon,” Whitehead said.

I want to know who these mental health professional and how did they get involved should be the question, just who called them in to pass judgment?
Oh, “mental health “”"professionals”"”! That is enough to make someone want to just go throw up everything they have eaten all day long! “”"professionals”, “”"”"experts”"”"” I put all those marks there to make my point of just how disgusting this idiotic bullcrap is. Half these so called “”professional “”"expert” freaks don’t know their rearend from a hole in the ground, and get paid oodles of money to say whatever they’re told to say! As if they know how this young man feels about anything. This is nothing but an attack on his FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND NOTHING ELSE! These “black PANTIES”, threaten to kill white babies, and skin white people, and NOT ONE “”"”"PROFESSIONAL” is asked to “evaluate” them! Not one word said, not one useless “law enforcement” jerk is sent out to grab them and ARREST THEM for nothing short of DOMESTIC TERRORISIM! But this young man says one or two words that “offend” someone with their lips glued to this DICK HEAD in office, and they run out and arrest him immediately! No wonder this country is at each other’s throats, with bullcrap like this going on! If everyone who said to “sharpen their axes”, and other such things, were arrested, the jails and prisons would be beyond full to capacity! Oh. I forgot. He is military, he can go put his LIFE in danger for these sons of camels, but he can’t exercise his rights as an AMERICAN CITIZEN! I guess being in the military means you lose your nationality, and become a nonity! I don’t see the connection there, these men and women go and lay their lives on the line for THEIR COUNTRY! WHY THE HELL SHOULD THEY NOT HAVE A SAY IN HOW IT”S RAN, OR WHAT IS BEING DONE TO IT/HER? And if they disagree with America being ABUSED AS SHE IS BEING, WHY CAN THEY NOT DEFEND HER????????? For this is what this young man’s words meant, DEFENSE OF HIS COUNTRY WHICH HE FOUGHT FOR! If anyone should be arrested, it should be the COPS WHO ARRESTED HIM INSTEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What happened to our first ammendment and this being the land of the FREE?
Is it me, or have people lost their ability to delineate the difference between "Literal" and "Figurative" speech? What's next a new law where you have to annotate the difference? This is in my opinion due to the "Dumbing" down of the American society. People are more apt to watch "American Idol", "Survivor", "Jersey Shore" (I still have no clue who this Snooki woman is supposed to be, or what she does that is so great even now…guess that's because I'm not a "Guido" and haven't ever watched that show although there are still plenty of "News Articles" about it), or any of a hundred other shows like these that add zero intellectual content. America's conversational topics have moved away from God, Faith, Morality, and substantive matters to T.V. shows where people plop themselves down in front off and turn off their brains, News Propaganda shows, and everything from the benign to totally asinine, without regard for anything that could uplift the American Spirit and help to keep our Moral stability.
