President Obama has recently offered the American people a truly unique plan for meeting our energy needs in the future. He wants us to begin producing clean energy from algae. That’s right. He wants $14 million to begin research on this.
Charles Krauthammer was recently on Fox News to mock the president’s latest proposal:
So it’s not oil. His solution is algae. And because we know the secretary of energy is a physicist who won the Nobel Prize, the president, knowing all this stuff, said one reason we should do this is because we can grow algae here in the United States. It happens that algae will grow anywhere on earth. I looked it up while I was away for those three days.
I did research. It grows in oceans, in lakes and ponds, you’re your swimming pool when the pool man is on vacation, on turtle, sloths, the bark of trees, and rocks. Why are we drilling for oil? We are the Saudi Arabia of rocks. We have a mountain range called the Rockies, and we are allowing ourselves to be dominated by the oil producers. I think he is on to something here that is truly revolutionary. Why build a keystone pipeline with real oil from Canada to put in real refineries and put in real existing cars when you can do algae? I think he is on to something. And I think this shows the vision, the hope and change he promised in 2008.
Oh, and this insanity gets worse. According to the National Journal, (Feb. 10, 2012), Obama is directing the Defense Department to replace jet fuel with biofuels, supply troops with solar-power electronic equipment and build hybrid-engine tanks and aircraft carriers. And, according to the National Journal, hybrid-tanks will cost an extra $1 million each to build. Isn’t that great?
In fact, the Air Force is pursuing contracts for biofuels made from algae and camelina, a grass-like plant. These fuels can cost up to $150 a barrel compared to $100 a barrel for oil – one of those dreaded fossil fuels so hated by Obama, Communist Van Jones, and Lisa Jackson of the EPA.
Isn’t this brilliant? We’ll have our military dependent on solar power and algae fuel to defend our national security. Will Obama force aircraft carriers to begin using wind mills instead of nuclear power in the future? Perhaps our Navy should just return to using sails instead of engines. After all, the British Navy once ruled the world with wind-powered ships. Or, better yet, why not just use Republicans as galley slaves to power our Navy in the future.
Obama’s green policies will return us to the 17th century — and that’s what he wants.

The quantity of domestic natural gas and oil will produce enough fuel to last for decades and get America free from OPEC. If algae is the answer private industry will figure it out.The government has been wrong way to much. If the government put 14 trillion into it it wouldn't happen as fast as what private industry will do for free in a fraction of the time. Get the government out of most everything. If it can be privatized It will happen faster and cheaper. Just try to list all the things that government does really well besides spend our money. The list will be really short or nonexistent.

and so how is half the people here going to afford to buy a bio-fuel powered vehicles when most can't afford a good used vehicle as it is now a days . theres also hydrogen fuel technology that been around for 50 years but big oil has fought that patent , same problem here again most can't buy a new car . naturual gas is our best chance since all you need to do is refit your car to run on naturual gas which is alot cheaper than having to buy a new car .

Spend that 14 million on construction jobs to rebuild a few of our deteriorating roads and bridges, you dumbass, frig algae, we have enough availiable petroleum under our feet if you'd use your head and allow drilling. Build a refinery, and stop using ethenol, it cost too much to produce, destroys our engines and is a food source.
