More than half of the respondents in a recent survey expressed disapproval of both Barack Obama’s healthcare position and ObamaCare legislation in general. Furthermore, the USA Today/Pew Research Center poll illustrates how misled many Americans remain concerning the law.
Though the poll shows support of Obama’s plan to socialize medicine is at an all-time low, it also finds more than one in three individuals admit they have no clue how the law will be implemented. Forty percent of those polled reported not knowing about the requirement — which begins next year — to either purchase healthcare or pay a fine. Considering the fact leftist legislators proudly voted for the law without a working understanding of its complexities, it may come as no surprise the general public is woefully uninformed.
Compared to previous polls, a higher number of Americans do seem to be somewhat informed about the law and its potentially devastating consequences. This increased knowledge naturally correlates with ObamaCare’s rising unpopularity. As with nearly everything this administration does, secrecy is this law’s best hope for survival.
As more and more working individuals find themselves unemployed or working a part-time job because of ObamaCare’s employer mandates, one can expect to see even more backlash against the governmental power grab. When even radical leftist labor unions are openly speaking out against this law, it becomes apparent Democrats have seriously overshot the mark.
To that end, another notable aspect of the poll indicates Americans now trust Republicans more than Democrats in handling the issue of healthcare. Not surprisingly, the last time polling showed such a preference was during a similar push for socialized medicine during Bill Clinton’s first term.
In the end, big government liberals care very little about providing health care to those in need. As with their counterparts in dictatorships and monarchies throughout history, their true agenda lies in wielding ever more control over the lives of their subjects. Thankfully, as this poll shows, many Americans still prefer liberty to government coercion.
