A pregnant 32-year-old in Nevada may be forced to murder her unborn child and undergo sterilization if an activist judge has his way.
The woman suffers from mental and physical handicaps, including epilepsy and a diminished social capacity. Both she and her adoptive parents want her to have the baby; and since she is unable to adequately raise the child, her family has found multiple couples anxious to adopt him or her.
Social services would have none of that, though, and sought a court hearing to discuss the possible risks of the pregnancy and birth.
The fact that forced abortion and sterilization harkens back to the very worst of the world’s totalitarian regimes notwithstanding, the woman’s attorney contends the state has no standing to issue such an order.
Her parents have legal guardianship over her, which means there must be sufficient evidence and a formal petition to usurp guardianship before the process can continue.
Abortion rights proponents often say they want the elective murder of children to be “safe, legal, and rare.” Apparently, some of the more strident defenders also want it to be court-ordered.
Several doctors have joined the pregnant woman’s family, outraged at this court’s flirtation with such an abhorrent miscarriage of justice.
One OB-GYN, after familiarizing himself with the facts of the case, said that an abortion is not only unnecessary but unwise.
This country has a long way to go before we can enjoy the freedom and prosperity we inherited from previous generations of patriots. Until we see the vicious and unwarranted war on the next generation through abortion, though, I feel we will always be on the wrong side of history.
The first step in restoring America is to guarantee unalienable rights — life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — to the most vulnerable among us.
