(Reuters) – Neighbors of George Zimmerman say he had bandages on his nose and head the day after he shot dead Trayvon Martin, supporting statements by the neighborhood watch volunteer that he was beaten in a confrontation with the black Florida teenager.
The extent of Zimmerman’s injuries could be crucial to his legal defense under Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” self-defense law, which allows the use of deadly force when someone has the reasonable belief he could face death or great bodily harm.
Police said Zimmerman, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the racially charged case, was bleeding from the nose and the back of his head and was treated by medics before being taken to Sanford police station after the February 26 shooting.
But public doubts were later raised by the release of a grainy surveillance video from the police station in which no injuries were readily visible.
Zimmerman later sought medical treatment for injuries including a broken nose, his former lawyers have said.

According to what has been reported, Zimmerman lost Martin, and while walking back to his vehicle, Martin jumped out from a side alley and attacked Zimmerman. This will all come out in the courts though.
It would help if you looked at the facts and not what the media is telling you happened. Zimmerman never approached Martin. It was Martin who approached Zimmerman.
ZIMMERMAN’S TRIAL
Anyone who thinks that Zimmerman will get a fair and impartial trial is simply naïve and living in a dream world. When he goes to trial, he must be found guilty, and the jurors will know this. Even if the judge does attempt to keep the identities of these jurors secret, there are enough liberal “journalists” who will pay enough bribes to find out who their identities, and then their identities will be given to the Black Panthers, and other black racists terrorists. The jurors know this, and know that they, and their families, will be in danger if they find Zimmerman innocent (even though he is). Also, the likes of “Revs.” Sharpton, and Jackson, and their racists ilk, will turn loose a national series of riots if Zimmerman is found innocent. It will be Rodney King all over again, but on steroids. With thugs like this holding our legal system hostage, what other verdict for Zimmerman will there be but guilty
