(Editor’s note: This column was penned before the tragedy yesterday in Connecticut.)
Using the recent shooting at a mall in Oregon as a launching pad, MSNBC presented a one-sided look at the issue of gun control. Considering the source, I doubt I need to clarify which view the network endorsed.
During a segment touted as a debate on the issue, the anchor invited just one guest — a gun control activist with the Brady Campaign — to discuss the merits of gun-grabbing legislation.
The newsman began the interview by asking his guest this hard-hitting question: “Why can’t we get the weapons, though, specifically like what’s being described that was used in this incident most recently in Portland, off the streets?”
Despite the anchor’s rather clumsy phrasing, his guest called it “a good question” and went headlong into his leftist talking points.
Without a conservative guest to challenge the politically correct position, the conversation maintained an anti-Second Amendment vibe.
Americans “don’t want to live in a country that has shootings in malls and movie theaters and places of worship but we also don’t want to live in a country where there are 32 murders every day,” he replied.
No one brought up the fact that Americans also don’t want to live in a country where our constitutionally afforded rights are stripped because of the irresponsible acts of a few murderous lunatics. No one argued that murders and assaults occur consistently in our country without the use of a gun. No one chimed in with statistics proving that responsible gun ownership actually decreases crime.
This is what passes for debate on MSNBC.
The only voice in favor of the Second Amendment came from a clip of Sen. Lindsey Graham recorded during a CNN interview.
Graham rationally explained why he supports gun ownership and, in a broader sense, personal liberty.
“If my individual rights under the Constitution are limited by the sensibility of others, I don’t have a whole lot of rights,” he said in the clip.
Instead of treating Graham’s remarks with respect — as he did with those of his in-studio guest — the MSNBC anchor said they “made [him] nuts.”
I’m sure this network talking head received a hearty pat on the back from his bosses for a job well done; but outside of that leftist enclave, such unbalanced reporting is yet another obvious sign of bias.

I have never watched msnbc for even a nano second and I never will. If pmsnbc wants my guns they are more than welcome to come and try to take them.
Of course, neither the MSNBC anchor or the guest even hinted at the fact that roughly 3,300 innocent children are killed by abortionists everyday in America.
How about, for instance, these “black” mob attacks, where these roving “black” youths attack, and kick, stomp, beat and in general do great harm to their victims, MINUS any guns? Of course, these victims also have no guns, which, I might add, would stop these MOBS OF ROVING IGGERS cold in their tracks! I wonder, why do these “reporters and journalists”, and I use those words very, very lightly, why do they NEVER seem to say one word about this type of violence, done, with NO GUNS? Because when a person, or persons, are determined to do harm, and violence against another, they WILL FIND A WAY, ANY WAY WITH ANYTHING, INCLUDING THEIR HANDS, FEET AND TEETH TO DO THIS VOILENCE! Soooo, are we gonna “ban” hands, feet and teeth also? People who are so “progressivly minded” are not PROGRESSING towards the FUTURE, they are “progressing backwards” into the Stone Age, where when people had no guns, they made weapons of stones, sticks, and other materials with which to do their violence, or whatever. Guns may be “outlawed”, but rest assured, CRIMINALS WILL ALWAYS HAVE THEM, and the rest WILL FIND WAYS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES! Does anyone know just how many ways there are, for instance, to make a bomb out of plain old household cleaning supplies, and even from COOKING SUPPLIES? Where there is a desire, or need for VIOLENCE, it WILL BE FOUND! Until the hearts and minds of man is more inclined towards peace and nonviolence, there WILL BE VIOLENCE! However, man being inclined towards peace is a nice dream, but………..it ain’t gonna happen, not anytime soon. Our own “leaders” are more violent than any of the rest of us here out in “citizenland”, they are the ones who get us into wars, and other such “conflicts”, where violence is done on massive scales, so I don’t see anything changing for the better anytime soon. Trying to “ban” guns in this country is enough of a reason to incite the general population into violence, so they are asking for violence by this bullshit of “banning guns” in America! They are in for the fight of their lives, I think. One, just ONE gun, in the right hands of ONE PERSON on Friday, could have STOPPED THIS LITTLE BASTARD COLD RIGHT AT THE WINDOW HE BROKE INTO TO DO HIS EVIL DEEDS!!!!!! ONE SINGLE GUN IN THE RIGHT HANDS!!!!!!
