(CNSNews.com) – Asked by Parade magazine, “What do you hope to accomplish in your second term?” First Lady Michelle Obama said she wants to “impact the nature of food in grocery stores” with the aim of cutting sugar, fat and salt.

“With ‘Lets Move!,’ our goal is to end the problem of childhood obesity in a generation,” Mrs. Obama said. “And while we’ve seen some very profound cultural shifts, we still have communities that don’t have access to affordable and healthy foods. We still need to find a way to impact the nature of food in grocery stores, in terms of sugar, fat, and salt.”

Mrs. Obama also discussed the challenge of “educating families” on healthy lifestyles in a society where “TV is rampant.”

“[W]e need to keep educating families about how to structure a life that is healthy in a society where TV is rampant and communities don’t have enough resources in terms of sports and activities,” she said.

As CNSNews.com previously reported, Mrs. Obama’s “Lets Move!” campaign has published an online guide called “Supermarket Shopping 101” that provides tips for shoppers on the importance of making a list and how to navigate a grocery store.

What Michelle should be doing is putting the Surgeon General on a diet and exercise program –not imposing her ideas on the rest of us Americans

Why is she worried about peoples "health"? If they get another 4 years, the MAJORITY of Americans will be homeless.

Oh, so Michelle has her trainer flown in on our nickel and eats whatever she wants. Only the serfs will be told what they can and cannot eat.

In his next term he will executive order cap and tax—so that utlities will go sky high. Then he wants to take tax dollars from burbs and bring it into cities. So burbs will not have the funds for their own use. So taxes will rise. Oh and with the Bush tax expiring. Most Americans paying for the rest will see a considerable raise in their taxes.

I believe that most of the obesity is from lack of exercise. We had sugar, fat, and salt in my day, but if you look a all of the school pictures back in the forties and fifties, there were very few, if any, overweight children in the class. We played sand lot baseball, hide and seek, jump rope, tag, tether ball, roller skated, and many other games where we had plenty of exercise. We didn't ride a bus to school, sit for hours in front of a television, or video games, walked to the store for our mothers, didn't have cars until we went out and got a job, and got lots of exercise from our parents doing chores. Too many kids, and adults, sit in front of the tv for hours with a bag of chips other junk food and get no exercise except to lift a fork to their mouth. Beside that, telling us what we can and cannot eat is another way of controlling. Obamas wife should be more worried about the hormones, nitrates and other preservatives added to our food. There is so much more cancer. autism, altzheimer's and other diseases it makes you wonder.

I agree totally. I also think they are approaching this overweight problem from the wrong view. Food isn't the answer, safe streets are the answer. When our streets were safe, the kids played outside, rode bicycles and played sand lot baseball and many other games requiring exercise. Now so many of our streets and neighborhoods are unsafe. Parents cannot let their children out of their sight. Most of the play requiring exercise is in a controlled atmosphere such as planned ball games, etc. It all goes back to the streets and neighborhoods being unsafe for the children. If that were addressed, the obesity problem would solve itself.
