It certainly seems to be the case. Recently, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg attacked 40 ounce “Big Gulp” sodas and put an end to them in NYC. On Tuesday, he told CNN’s Piers Morgan “hat he doesn’t “understand why police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re going to go on strike, we’re not going to protect you unless you, the public through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe.”
He went on to say “police officers want to go home to their families. And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more important more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who should’t have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor piercing bullets.”
Mayor Bloomberg is a complete idiot. How does he propose that our “do-nothing” legislature go about keeping the police safe by not leaving guns in the hands of people that should not have them? Our FBI, CIA, ATF, SWAT, and absolutely every other Federal agency can’t keep guns (or drugs) out of the hands of people who should not have them. So lawmakers pass legislation to keep guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens, who should be allowed to have them to be able to protect themselves from the people who should not have them (which are the same people that the Government can’t prevent from acquiring weapons.)
Mayor Bloomberg should stick to going after and imposing his will on things that he has the power to change, as he did by eliminating 40 ounce “Big Gulp” sodas in New York City. I might suggest he spend (or waste) some more of his time going after Taco Bell’s Big Burrito. He will have a heck of a better chance in controlling or eliminating Taco Bell’s Burrito than he will have eliminating guns from the millions of people in NYC who should not have them.
Unfortunately, Mr. Bloomberg is a typical career politician. Just like Obama, he has been at the public trough far too long, and they both immensely enjoy the limelight and the power that comes with their position (especially BO for obvious reasons.) They will both do anything and everything that they can to remain in the public eye and to wield their power and will upon the American people.
