Last evening, when Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program, he endorsed Mitt Romney for president.
A darling of the Tea Party, Rubio may have shown his colors. Could he be a RINO (Republican In Name Only) in disguise?
Saying that Romney ‘earned’ it is rather odd. Suggesting that Mitt Romney would be a “clear alternative” to Obama is a clear sign Senator Rubio has not taken any serious time to look at the former governor’s record in Massachusetts. Equally, he has failed to examine Romney’s continued claims about saving the Salt Lake City Olympics.
Come on Senator, was Ronald Regan’s floor fight a recipe for disaster as you suggest?
Factually, a floor fight resulted “The Reagan Revolution,” which was largely responsible for ending the economic morass from the Carter administration while establishing The United States of America on the international level as a force its enemies would choose not to challenge.
Senator Rubio is also showing his useful exuberance pushing Romney’s nomination to move the process forward. Is Marco Rubio unaware that Ronald Reagan didn’t receive the Republican Party’s nomination until July, 1980 at the Republican National Convention?
Reagan’s late nomination was less than three months before the General Election on November 4th, 1980. With his landslide victory over incumbent former President Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th President of the United States on January 20, 1981. Riding the Reagan wave, the Republicans also won control of the United States Senate for the first time in 28 years in addition gaining several governorships.
What’s the rush here, Marco? The last time the Republicans ran anything less than a true conservative, they were beaten badly. Let’s not forget the thumping of President Bush 41 by President Bill Clinton and Senator John McCain’s performance allowing Obama and his cronies to lead the U.S. into the economic abyss.
What is it you see in a Mitt Romney presidency, Senator? The United States desperately needs smaller government, lower taxes, and less intervention, yet Romney’s rhetoric is inconsistent with the facts.
On issues such as the value-added tax, healthcare, Social Security reform, budget savings, ethanol subsidies, and the minimum wage, the positions Romney has taken are not the positions taken by a conservative.
Keep your powder dry, Senator Rubio; let’s take the fight to the convention if need be so that a true conservative can emerge and become the Republican Party nomination.
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it; I’m J.C., and I approve this message.
