God provided man with abundant resources on this beautiful planet, a variety of which were designed to be used as nourishment for our bodies. The earth provides man with the provisions for an exceptionally balanced diet that has sustained the species for millennia.
A growing number of extremists, however, have tried to remove a vital component of that diet from the equation in recent years. For a variety of largely unfounded reasons, theses radicals contend the beneficial – and delicious – attributes of meat are outweighed by the alleged impact on the planet.
While these fringe voices have generally been relegated to like-minded herbivore enclaves, the current administration is giving them a prominent role in compiling next year’s federal dietary guidelines.
According to recent reports, the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee is being largely influenced by a number of members who advocate a “plant-based” diet for all Americans. The guidelines this group decides on will be the basis for federal nutrition policies between 2015 and 2020.
The DGAC heard a presentation by sustainable agriculture activist Kate Clancy during one meeting earlier this year. She presented the hypothesis that eating meat contributes to climate change, advocating for the outrageous call for all citizens to shun meat for the “smaller ecological impact” of a vegetarian diet.
Not only was this extreme view offered a prominent placement in the committee’s deliberation process; one of its members gave Clancy’s spiel a glowing recommendation.
Dr. Miriam Nelson celebrated the activist’s “really, really wonderful presentation,” suggesting that “really we are talking about eating more plants, fewer animals.”
Not only does the committee support pressuring Americans to give up meat; it also used mock terrorism to show its palpable disdain for companies that dare give customers an option to order the foods they desire.
Committee member Alice Lichtenstein revealed a presentation during a recent lecture that showed Ronald McDonald being held hostage and ultimately beheaded by terrorists. She also expressed her support of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s failed push to ban the sale of sodas larger than 16 ounces.
By creating a guideline the U.S. Department of Agriculture will use for the next five years, these unelected extremists are literally shaping American policy right now.
