Republicans will never win Hispanic votes. The sooner the Grand Old Party establishment (GOPe) acknowledges this, the better off this country will be.
The gulf between how Republicans think Hispanics see the world and how Hispanics actually do see the world is much too large.
The only areas of general agreement between the GOPe and Hispanics are their shared disapproval of gay “marriage” and abortion. But since these issues are about as important as whether Arbor Day will be celebrated this year, there isn’t much mileage to be gained from these small agreements.
The media-fueled mantra of “faith and Family” as the core of the Hispanic community is as specious as the myth of the “conservative black family.”
Both are false hopes offered by the Left to a Republican establishment eager to find a way to sell illegal alien amnesty and a larger “social safety net” to its base.
A new Public Opinion Strategies (POS) poll crashes into the false propaganda the GOPe dearly loves to use in its efforts to sell the idea of wasting money and time trying to clone its sprinkling of Latino supporters.
The POS survey shows that Latinos see “social and cultural issues” not as Republicans do, but as a road to getting all the free stuff they can from the greater society. In this regard, Hispanics appear to be much more practical than the GOPe.
Republicans have to acknowledge that Mitt Romney’s 47% has grown to more than 50%; so talk of “faith and family”, especially to the two groups that are the largest users of abortion for family planning and whose leaders are four square in favor of gay “marriage”, really don’t want the faith and family morals the GOPe is selling. They aren’t pretending; it’s “let’s see the money!” if you want their vote.
The POS found Latino sentiment was,“Republicans don’t want us here”; and whatever they say about the economy “will naturally be to the advantage to the wealthy and hurt the working class.”
For the very life of our country, GOPe types have to hear what these people are saying. They are telling you straight out that they will never be on your side. The survey showed that the Latinos’ favorite Republicans are people like Chris Christie, Susana Martinez, and Jeb Bush, who talk the “free stuff” talk they want to hear.
Play make-believe with these remarks if you will, GOPe; but the destruction of America will be on your hands if you don’t let go and rethink this quixotic quest to win the votes of people who will only vote for Republicans who act like Democrats.
It’s your move, GOPe.
