Jeff Foxworthy describes a redneck as a person with a “glorious lack of sophistication”. Remember, it is a description that is definitely NOT meant in the pejorative, since most of Foxworthy’s audience is laughing at themselves.
That description fits Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy to a tee.
So Bundy, who just got done handing the Bureau of Land Management’s collective butt to Harry Reid, and the rest of the so-called “environmentalists” who think it’s OK for the Federal Government to cause us to starve to death by killing off ranching, is not very sophisticated. And he said to a New York Times bureau manager exactly what he thought about the plight of blacks in America.
Yessir. He called Barack Obama “a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wants to have one.”
That was Harry Reid in 2008.
He must have said:
“Too many (black) fathers are M.I.A., too many fathers are AWOL, missing from too many lives and too many homes.”
That was Barack Obama in 2008.
What Bundy actually said was this:
“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the negro. When I go — when I go through Las Vegas, the north of Las Vegas, and I would see these little government houses and front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there’s always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch. They didn’t have nothing to do, they didn’t have nothing for their kids to do, they didn’t have nothing for the young girls to do. And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do? They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, well, are they better off as slaves picking cotton, having family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? [inaudible] Yeah, they did get no more freedom, they got less freedom, they had less family life. And their happiness, you could tell they weren’t happy sitting on that concrete sidewalk. Down there they could probably be growing their turnips. So that’s all government, that’s not freedom.”
OK, he’s not particularly articulate. I probably could have made his point much more clearly. (But then, telling a story is what I do professionally.)
But he’s also NOT wrong or a “racist” despite what you may read from headline writers and Harry Reid.
The fact is that nearly 75% of black children are born today out of wedlock. The scene described by Bundy is a daily occurrence not only in North Las Vegas, but in inner cities all over the United States.
We have a black President, a black attorney general, and even a mentally disabled Senate Majority Leader; but we have not yet solved the problem of what happens when you create dependence on a welfare state. Yet, creating a welfare state is the exact strategy we used to placate black leaders in the 1960s after we passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
