With an incalculable number of illegal residents already within U.S. borders and many more funneling through our porous borders every day, many have decried the relative ineffectiveness of the U.S. Border Patrol. That lack of immigration law enforcement will be far more pronounced in coming days, according to one high-ranking member of the agency.
According to National Border Patrol Council Vice President Shawn Moran, agents have been instructed to curtail all duties related to keeping Americans safe during the ongoing federal government shutdown.
“It doesn’t matter whether it’s drugs, bodies, or how large the group is,” he said during an interview with Breitbart.com, “our agents are being ordered to stand down by Border Patrol management.”
He said he has heard from officers across the southwest who provide very similar stories.
“They are not being relieved in place,” he explained, “they are simply being told that someone else is being dispatched, but none of us have seen that occur.”
The agency exists not only to prevent illegal border crossing by our destitute neighbors to the south, he explained. Shutting down border patrol means that weapons, drugs, slaves, and even terrorists could easily make their way onto American soil.
Moran said that the government is “placing the budgetary concerns before the security of our border,” noting that the department currently has its largest-ever budget. Unfortunately, he added, “the agents on the ground have not seen the benefits of an increased budget,” which he said “has not trickled down to the men and women with their boots on the ground.”
One thing has become clear in five years under the thumb of Barack Obama: he will do whatever it takes to further his agenda. As with many in his party, he sees illegal immigrants as a potential source of faithful voters. As such, his regime will use any means possible — including the manipulation of a government shutdown — to make sure our borders remain unguarded.
