Earlier this month, Democratic National Convention Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz proclaimed her party would proudly run on the virtues of ObamaCare as the 2014 midterm election season approaches. Considering the lies and incompetence surrounding the unpopular law’s implementation, many conservatives are hoping that is exactly what its leftist supporters do.
The prediction that campaigning on this boondoggle would send more voters to the GOP was bolstered recently through a poll conducted by CNN and ORC International. Continuing a trend that began with a miserable roll out of the ObamaCare enrollment site HealthCare.gov, Democrats are now losing to Republicans in a generic congressional poll.
Though results remain close, the poll shows the GOP leads by two percentage points among voters who were asked which party they would vote for next year.
In a similar poll conducted by CNN last month, Republicans trailed by eight points.
The news network, which has itself struggled in the ratings due in large part to its blatant leftist bias, explained that ObamaCare was the likely cause of this shift.
As individuals across the nation continue to receive cancellation notices from their insurers, it becomes increasingly obvious that Obama lied when selling his program to voters. The fact that the website designed to facilitate enrollment is largely useless simply adds to the distrust Americans have toward this administration.
Still, Obama minions like Schultz believe that public sentiment will once again turn in the law’s favor.
For Republicans seeking a majority stake in the U.S. Senate next year, such a Democrat strategy could be more effective than any advertising campaign they could imagine.
The stars seem to be aligning for a GOP victory, though often ineffective legislators in that party have been known to squander such electoral advantages in the past. If Republicans can stay out of their own way until Election Day, however, a renewed conservative movement could put this nation back on the right track again.
Thanks to their own blind allegiance to Obama and the federal government, leftist legislators appear to be resigned to minority status in the next congressional session. Furthermore, because of the shortsightedness of Senate Majority Harry Reid, they would be left without even the option of a filibuster.
