Much of America remains paralyzed this week as a record-breaking freeze extends across the nation. As the coldest regions of the U.S. brace for wind chills as low as -65 degrees Fahrenheit, even large swaths of Florida and Texas prepare for subfreezing weather.
Even Monday’s highs in certain regions, including Chicago, Ill., are on pace to break previous lows.
While this development – along with the news of a global warming expedition being hopelessly stuck in Antarctic ice – might cause some environmental activists to reconsider their position, others are unbelievably citing the change as evidence of the flawed hypothesis.
A recent Daily Beast report did exactly that by blaming global warming for the deep freeze currently encompassing the country. The author cited three reasons he feels that, as “crazy as it sounds, global warming may be at least partly to blame.”
While many would not argue with his contention that he sounds crazy, the rest of his assertion will likely leave many skeptics flabbergasted. When predictions by alarmists like Al Gore are repeatedly disproven, the global warming crowd is forced to regroup and find new meteorological phenomena to which they can attribute its effects.
Apparently disregarding recent reports showing an increase in Arctic ice, the article claims this region is “quickly losing sea ice, which is being replaced by relatively warmer open ocean.”
This purported development is being exacerbated, the author contends, by a slowing jet stream. Finally, the article concludes “extreme weather” will be the norm, “sometimes breaking records for heat, cold, snow, and rain in the process.”
As the global warming faithful continue to move the goalposts in the attempt to prove their theory, it becomes impossible for skeptics to engage in rational debate. Any weather pattern is immediately ascribed to anthropogenic global warming, regardless of how absurd such claims might sound.
Much in the same way the far left continues to embrace communism despite its record of abysmal failure, these myopic activists hold fast to the tenets of their faith in the face of incontrovertible proof to the contrary.
