Gay N.Y. Rep. To ‘Marry’ Partner

New York has long been ahead of the curve regarding America’s protracted leftward shift.

Outrageously high taxes are forcing more and more residents to seek shelter in more affordable – and conservative – states such as Texas and Florida. After years of absurd bans and restrictions under the leadership of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New York City voters doubled down and elected a man with socialist ties, Bill De Blasio, to replace him.

The left also continues to win the culture war in the Empire State. In 2011, New York became one of the first U.S. states to legalize same-sex marriage; and, according to recent reports, one of the state’s congressmen and his longtime partner will soon take advantage of that law.

Democrat U.S. Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney announced that he and his partner, Randy Florke, were recently engaged after more than two decades together. He is one of six gay or bisexual representatives currently serving in the House.

When the nuptials take place, Maloney will be just the second openly homosexual congressman to marry while still serving in that capacity. The first, Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank, was wed to James Ready in 2012, almost a quarter-century after he solicited a gay prostitute who ultimately turned his apartment into a homosexual escort service.

Maloney said he looks forward to the opportunity to raise three adopted children with his legal spouse.

“After 21 years together,” he explained, “we are excited for the next step in our journey as a family.”

He said the wedding will be a major milestone in a crusade he has waged since he was a young man.

“For decades,” he explained, “we’ve fought to ensure that all the families can experience the joys of loving commitment and we are proud to have our friends and family share this special moment with us in the near future.”

For millions of Americans, though, the wedding marks yet another step away from the moral foundation on which our society was built. God ordained marriage as the union between one man and one woman and, despite any blasphemous laws passed by our leaders, a large portion of this nation will continue to fight for the sanctity of that bond.

Among those who seek to uproot the traditional family structure, this is a step toward a politically correct nirvana.
