The calls for Attorney General Eric Holder’s forced ouster from his position as the nation’s top law enforcement officer have increased exponentially in recent months. The Western Center for Journalism was at the forefront of this movement, offering a forum through which outraged Americans may voice their concern.
The latest push to remove Holder from the Justice Department came from the Coalition of African American Pastors, a group of faith leaders who oppose him in large part based on his advocacy in favor of homosexual marriage.
Founding President Rev. William Owens contends Holder will “go down in history as the worst attorney general.”
While traditional marriage is not the only issue with which the organization holds differing views from the administration, Holder’s recent directive toward state attorneys general sparked a renewed fight against him. Reports indicate Holder gave them permission to disregard state laws supporting marriage between a man and a woman on “constitutional grounds.”
Insinuating laws on the books in states like Virginia and Pennsylvania are discriminatory to homosexuals, the Justice Department is now offering state attorneys general an end run around them and effectively negating the will of the people in these states. For the CAAP, that decision represents an impeachable offense.
The group has been gathering signatures in support of its cause, insisting Holder must be removed before he causes further damage.
Pastors associated with the group are not only interested in removing Holder. Owens explained that Barack Obama has been given a “free pass to do what he pleases” based entirely on his skin color.
“If Obama was a white man,” he reasoned, “he would be impeached.”
He called it “a disgrace” that Obama “has stood on the shoulders of Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King Jr.”
Unfortunately, the current climate in Washington, D.C. has permitted the ascendency of leaders who want nothing more than to uproot America’s founding principles and run roughshod over our Constitution. The silver lining, however, is that millions of Americans are discovering this national outrage for themselves and demanding accountability.
With your help, we can send a clear message to D.C. that we are fed up with this corrupt administration. Add your name to our petition today!
