(CNN) — Anyone watching the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday night heard the number 4.5 million several times.
“Despite incredible odds and united Republican opposition, our president took action, and now we’ve seen 4.5 million new jobs,” San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro, the party’s keynote speaker, said.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who served as President Barack Obama’s chief of staff, and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, who followed Obama’s November rival Mitt Romney as governor of Massachusetts, both cited the same number.
It’s a big-sounding number, given the still-sputtering job market. So we’re giving it a close eyeballing.

I am sure that the number is right 4.5 Million Jobs, were created just not here. Our oil is coming from Soros owned oil companies, our stimulas funds have been sent to China and the Middle East so I am sure that the 4.5 million jobs is correct paided for by our dollars. And less than 300,000 created here.
So let's see, if my business earns $4.5 million but spends $5 million to do so, does that make me a success? My banker won't think so and certainly wouldn't lend me the $5 million in exchange for 100% of my earnings. I don't think America can afford to loan BO another 4 years either.
If the name of your company is Solyndra or GM the government will HAND you a couple billion. All on the taxpayers dime.
Well the 4.5 million created is a little bit better than the amount needed to cover population increase. Unfortunately the 5 million lost means we have a lot of catching up to do.
Where is any mention of 300,000 other than in the title???
