The collapse of America’s traditional bipartisan foreign policy is now complete.
With the latest failure in Iraq, it’s clear that the role of America as a beacon of freedom (and friend to those in need) has died under Barack Obama.
You see, what’s left of independent Iraq is on the verge of becoming a vassal state of the Shiite theocracy that rules Iran.
Essentially, Iran is going in to fill the void left by America. According to reports in the Mideast press, Tehran’s Mullah has offered Iraq’s government “everything it needs.”
Tehran has sent thousands of troops across the border, and the top commander of the radical Iranian Revolutionary Guard is leading the charge.
The most embarrassing part, though, is the simple truth that Barack Obama is the one who gave this plan the green light.
Obama Waves the White Flag
It’s nearly impossible to put into words how distant Obama’s foreign policy is from our past objectives.
Iran is the leading sponsor of Islamic terrorism around the globe… and until now, the formal policy of the United States has always been to counter Iranian attempts for power and influence at every opportunity. We even assisted Saddam Hussein in his war against Iran’s pariah theocracy in the 1980s.
In 2007, U.S. military leaders accused Iran of providing advanced IED technology to terrorists in Iraq. Analysts estimate that the technology was specifically responsible for the deaths of no fewer than 170 servicemen.
On top of that, the country’s leaders have aggressively pursued nuclear weapons, which would give them the means to destroy the Jewish population in Israel.
Yet in spite of Iran’s history of violence and terrorism, Obama is essentially throwing in the towel on Iraq, handing the situation off to our most dangerous rival in much the same way he gave Syria to the Russians and Iranians.
In fact, the radical Sunni army that has surrounded Baghdad is on this rampage, courtesy of Obama’s failures in Syria. There, Obama turned to Vladimir Putin… and, as a result, Russia’s puppet, Bashar al-Assad, is still in power. That outcome caused ISIS to shift focus and move into Iraq.
Needless to say, almost anyone with knowledge of foreign policy is outraged. Instead of countering our two greatest geopolitical rivals, Obama has embraced their success and helped embolden their aggressive moves.
Former Vice President Dick Cheney said it best: “Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much, at the expense of so many. Too many times to count, Mr. Obama has told us he is ‘ending’ the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan – as though wishing made it so. His rhetoric has now come crashing into reality. Watching the black-clad ISIS jihadists take territory once secured by American blood is final proof, if any were needed, that America’s enemies are not ‘decimated.’ They are emboldened and on the march.”
In five short years, Barack Obama has fundamentally transformed decades of American foreign policy with his incompetence and foolishness. What a disaster.
