A congressional hearing designed to explore the prolonged failure of the ObamaCare roll out began Thursday on Capitol Hill. The event quickly devolved into a blame game as Democrats relentlessly twisted facts to suit the narrative that Republicans are somehow to blame.
According to Democrat Rep. Henry Waxman of California, the GOP is responsible because it purposely worked to stymie the socialized healthcare launch.
“We have already documented a record of Republicans attempting to sabotage the Affordable Care Act,” he claimed, blasting his political opponents for their support of a full repeal of the law.
“If we want this law to work,” he continued, “we have to make this right. We’ve got to fix it. Not what the Republicans are trying to do — nix and repeal it.”
Waxman was not alone in chastising the GOP for a law the Democrats forced into existence.
“I wish I could believe this hearing is above board,” New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone said, “but it’s not.”
The Democrat went on to claim that “Republicans don’t have clean hands coming here,” alleging the entire reason for the hearing is “to use the website glitches as an excuse to de-fund or repeal ObamaCare.”
Tellingly, Democrats often seek to blame the accuser when they are called to task for their own ineptitude or corruption. Pallone completely discounts the notion that a majority of Americans want to get to the bottom of this debacle.
As for Republican rebuttal, speakers generally stayed on topic by raising awareness of the many shortcomings involved in the ObamaCare launch.
Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn called out Waxman and others, saying that the country has been told time and again that the obviously faulty registration program would be operable and easy to use.
“These past three weeks of exchange messiness demonstrate that no member of this body should be a blind cheerleader for the Affordable Care Act and ignore the problems before their very eyes,” she concluded.
Unfortunately for the Democrats, though, the only cheerleader for ObamaCare is a blind one.
