IT IS THE SOLDIER

by Charles M Privince

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

  1. Watch "Band of Brothers" or "The Pacific" or "The Longest Day" or "Midway" or "Saving Private Ryan" or "Full Metal Jacket" or "Flags of Our Fathers" or any of the countless movies depicting the American Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Airman defending our country and then show me one current politician who has done anything to preserve our way of life. Oh, yes, there are a few, but none are major players in this current Administration. Michelle Obama recently spoke to that President husband of her's at a sporting event. She said, "All of this over a damned flag?" and he nodded, "Yes". How many have died for "that damned flag"? God, I hate that bitch and her worthless, Communist, Muslim husband.

To all of my fellow Brothers and Sisters in Arms, I thank you for your service, your Dedication, and your willingness to put your life and body on the "Line". I salute all of you, the Present people in Uniform, The Vets (such as me), and those who have given the ultimate Sacrifice to ensure our Rights and Freedoms.

To all the Civilians, Please remember EVERYONE who has ever served. It's okay to criticize the Policy Makers (Politicians) who decide when and where a war will be, whether a war is just or unjust in your eyes, but please always remember it is the Soldier, the Sailor, the Marine, and the Airmen who don't make the Policy and those fighting in Wars need your Support and your Understanding of the difference.

To all the Veterans, Thank you for what you did while in the Service, during War and during Peacetime. To those that were wounded and released from Duty, YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!! I am one in this category myself, after service numerous tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, I was Medically Retired from Active Duty due to injuries sustained while in the "Sandbox", and I also know the fight we all share to get the VA to give us the medical care that was promised to us, and they failed in that promise. We have moved from one War onto a different type of War that can attack you Mentally and Emotionally on top of the Physical Injuries sustained. I also know that at times things become too much to bear, and the thought of Suicide seems like the only option available left to us, but if you do that then they have WON because there is one less Veteran out there that they need to care for, So I say once again YOU ARE NOT ALONE, and if you need to talk just let me know and I will shoot you my email or Phone Number whichever is more convenient for you.
