BREAKING: U.S. Forces Just Captured Suspected Benghazi Attacker

As an investigation continues into the Obama administration’s response to the 2012 terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya, U.S. forces in that nation are making progress in bringing those responsible to justice. According to recent reports, a Special Operations team captured one of the suspected masterminds of that attack during a secret raid last weekend.

After significant preparation and coordination between the military and FBI, soldiers reportedly seized Ahmed Abu Khattala near Benghazi. American forces now have him in custody outside of Libya, officials confirm.

According to a Washington Post report, the media outlet received word of the capture Monday; however, it agreed to postpone publication until all safety considerations were resolved. An unnamed official was quoted in the article, saying Khattala’s capture is “a reminder that when the United States says it’s going to hold someone accountable and he will face justice, this is what we mean.”

Khattala was one of more than a dozen individuals charged with a role in the Benghazi incident that left four Americans dead on Sept. 11, 2012. Now being held in an undisclosed location, officials confirm he is set to be transferred to America.

This was at least the second attempt to capture Khattala, reports indicate. Following a mission in Libya last October that netted suspected terrorist Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqai, a military team was prepared to move on Khattala as well. As civil unrest increased in the nation, however, that mission was ultimately scrapped.

Officials confirm this raid was conducted entirely by American forces, explaining it represents the completion of an ongoing mission.

“We have made clear to successive Libyan governments our intention to bring to justice the perpetrators of the attack on our facilities in Benghazi,” the official stated; “so it should come as no surprise to the Libyan government that we would take advantage of an opportunity to bring Abu Khatalla to face justice.”

  1. "After significant preparation and coordination between the military and FBI, soldiers reportedly seized Ahmed Abu Khattala near Benghazi."
since when did we have troops in Libya? and why are they there?under what law or legal precedent?

  2. MuslimLuvChrist says:

Ansar al Sharia leader, Ahmed Abu Khattala (AAK) directed the attack on the ground the night of 9/11/12. AAK is also the leader of the Abu Obaida Bin Jarrah militia, which has joined forces with Ansar al Sharia. Ali Ani al Harzi, a leading suspect in the attack is a brother of Tariq Abu Ammar, a mid-level al Qaeda planner in Iraq, has reportedly been seen with fellow suspect and ringleader, AAK, who is under a Department of INJustice sealed indictment. His brigade merged into Ansar al Shariah in 2012, and he was positively identified to the FBI in a cell-phone photo from the scene of the attack. 8/6/13: Sealed charges were filed against AAK, but obama, State Dept., CIA and FBI never arrested him, until now, only 10 months later, not bad for government work
