BREAKING: Suspect In Custody After Naval Base Shooting

UPDATE 11:56 a.m. PST: Local news agencies are releasing conflicting information regarding the number of people shot. Initial reports of four fatal shootings have been updated to reflect just two individuals were shot at the scene — both of whom reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries. The crime scene is still being evaluated by investigators at this time.

Reports indicate that a shooter is in custody Thursday following a shooting near a naval base in Millington, Tenn. that left at least four people dead.

Though details are sketchy at this point in the investigation, initial reports from authorities describe the shooter as a former employee who, upon being relieved of duty, retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and returned to the site. He then opened fire, though it is unclear how many individuals were targeted in the attack.

The shooting comes just over a month after a similar incident left 12 dead at a Navy Yard in Washington D.C.

The Western Center for Journalism will have more details as they become available.
