There have been two serious attempts at secession in the United States, one formed our Country and the other nearly destroyed it.

The first began in 1765 when The Kingdom of Great Britain crossed the line of taxation on her Colonies.  We were being treated like Cinderella before the Ball.  We had no voice in our own lives and were being overcharged for the privilege.  Independence was declared on July 4, 1776, and won on October 19, 1781 with the surrender of General Cornwallis.  Independence was not official until January 14, 1784, with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

Had we lost we would have remained a British Colony and those who fought for independence would have been tried as traitors.

The war of 1812 was fought for the most part to impress and establish our right to be an independent nation and to retain our sovereignty.

The second was the Civil War.  In 1848 there was a strong movement to disallow any more states or territories to add slavery.  Many believed that the Federal government should be able to deny slavery and that the states and territories should be able to decide the issue for themselves.  The political battles went on until 1860 with the election of Abraham Lincoln.  Seven “slave States” filed for secession and were joined by an additional four a short time later.  As with the American Revolution, this was considered a rebellion, and war began with the first shots being fired on April 12, 1861, and ending with the surrender of General Lee on April 9, 1865.

Had the war ended differently, there would now be twonations instead of one: the United States of America and the Confederate States of America.  Slavery would still have ended, just a few years later.

Over the years there have been many secession movements.  States have considered splitting; we could easily have a Northern and Southern California, a Northern and Southern Massachusetts.

There are approximately 312 million people in the United States.  A small percentage of them have signed petitions for secession.  There are, at this time, 40 States with petitions and the number of signatures is growing.  This didn’t happen when Obama won his first term in office, it happened when he won his second.  There are many questions as to the validity of the results.  Let’s face it, George Washington was the only President to get 100% and the voting was handled much differently.

Most of the petitions for secession are due to over control by the Federal Government.  The original framers of our Constitution set forth plans for the States to govern themselves and the Federal Government would only govern those issues applicable to all.

Although these petitions will never amount to secession they are a major statement.  They are not the result of anger by Conservatives but more by the fear that the United States is failing.  The Federal Government has spent the Citizens’ money like water, and why not it isn’t their money.  We gave them a blank check and now don’t know how to rescind the offer.  The Obama Administration has increased the deficit to $16 trillion over the past 4 years. This is not a deficit created by the States but by the Federal Government.  The States have their own deficits to contend with.  GM owes millions to the Federal government, the Federal Income tax Payers, not to the individual states unless they borrowed directly from those States.  The States don’t owe a debt to the Feds, the Feds borrowed the money on their own.

What these Petitions are pointing out is that the United States has become an overbearing yoke on the freedoms of its people.   That States want and deserve the rights to govern themselves.  That “We the People” means “We the People”

We know there was election fraud, not necessarily wide spread voter fraud, but fraud nonetheless.  Record voter turnout and fewer votes counted.

When people feel that they are disenfranchised, and are being taxed without representation, they must exercise their rights, disband the government and establish a new nation.

They are requesting a peaceful separation from the United States.  Just as Puerto Rico may be requesting a peaceful separation from or Statehood to the United States.

Those of us who are distressed and unhappy over the results of the election are not necessarily upset that Obama won but rather the manner in which it was done and his plans for our future.

Depending on the number of signatures received by the Petitions, it could be possible to allow a few States to secede and for those desiring secession to be allowed to immigrate to those states and those living in them to be allowed to immigrate to those states deciding to remain with the Union.  Even if any of these petitions were to reach Congress the votes required for approval would be almost impossible to achieve and would take years to work out the logistics.  By that time it is possible that the Federal Government will have readjusted to be more supportive of the Constitution and American citizens.

One can only hope!

Before you cast your vote, think about a few things.


Chris Stevens was in Benghazi in order to recruit Islamic Jihadists to overthrow the current leadership in Syria.  The US was supplying weapons to these Jihadists.  If Obama wasn’t aware of the attack, it was because he either ignored the call, or his trusted aides refused to notify him.  Neither option is acceptable.  I think he knew, and watched, as Americans were murdered.  We know he lied about the cause and the circumstances of the attack. We know the military was refused permission to help. I think that this was a planned incident, approved by Obama, that went horribly wrong, and that the lies were a desperate attempt to shift blame.

There were attacks at many other Consulates and Embassies, but these faded as they resulted in no real damage.  Had Benghazi had the same result, Obama could have used these incidents to show that with him in charge, the US had strength.  He would then have been able to reveal an agreement with Iran over nuclear weapons and pretty much guarantee his re-election.  The economy would have still been in ruins, socialism would reign, and the United States would still be “Fundamentally Changed”, but voters would have only seen a President coming down hard on rioters.

The Economy:

Are you better off now than you were four years ago?  Have you received raises?  Do you have a job that pays what you were making then?  Do you have a job?  Have you retired or taken disability because you were unable to get a job?

When ObamaCare was passed, all the employees at the company I work for received a letter stating that it was unknown what insurance would be offered for the next year; now we know, and it’s not good!  Profit is down for companies, and wages have been frozen for years.  More part-time employees are being hired, and full-time positions are being cut.  Many employers are giving their employees the option of accepting part-time work or taking unemployment.  If you are reduced to part-time, you can file for partial unemployment but, when it comes time to renew unemployment, it is readjusted to what you earned in the past year (and you no longer qualify as it is based on the partial employment.)

Companies that are hiring are paying less and filling positions with part-time employees.  Many that are hiring now are doing so only for the Christmas Season; what will happen in January?  The recently unemployed are going on assistance and Food Stamps, not because they want to but because they have to.

Gas prices are going down a little; it now costs me $57 to fill my tank rather than $61 (whoopee!)  Four years ago, even eight years ago, it cost around $25 to $27.  I still have the same job as then but make 1/3 less than I did four years ago.  When gas prices were rising in 2007 and 2008, Bush was blamed; now we are told that the President has no control and that Obama is totally innocent.  What changed in three years to take the blame from the Administration?


We are a Judeo/Christian Nation, one that welcomes others to legally practice their own religion or lack thereof.  You can separate the different religions of our Founding Fathers all you want, but the First Settlers came here in order to practice Christianity without being told what religion they must follow by the Governments in their homelands.  The Founding Fathers were Christian, although they were members of different Church affiliations.   Jewish immigrants came in droves to avoid being persecuted and murdered by an unfriendly government.

We welcome those who practice other religions as long as they do so without breaking the laws of the United States.  Mormons are no longer allowed to legally have multiple wives; Satanists are not allowed to perform human sacrifice.  Hindi, Taoists, Buddhists, and all others are welcome.  Muslims are also welcome as long as they follow the Constitution of the United States of America and the laws in effect where they are.

Our laws and ethics are based on Judeo/Christian values, the values and laws taught to us in the Bible; if you remove the God-specific Commandments and pay attention to Commandments 5 through 10, you will find the basis for our laws:

“And God spoke all these words, saying: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

  1. You shall have no other gods before me.
  2. You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
  3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
  5. Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

The only transparency we have gotten from the Obama Administration has been by accident.

He hasn’t been transparent about his life or background, the fact that he was mentored and raised by anti-American extremists, and the fact that he and his wife were members of anti-American groups in college and went to a Church that did not preach the Love of God but the Hatred of America.

I don’t want to get into the “birther” argument, but his parents (plural) were not both American Citizens.  The “s” in parents stated in the Constitution was put there for a reason and not by accident.

He claims credit for the death of Bin Laden, but many sources have stated that at least twice prior, he declined permission for the mission and that the mission that did end Bin Laden’s life was approved without his knowledge (and he was informed only after the events were in motion.)

This is the administration that should also claim credit for the death of four Americans in Libya.

This is also the man who told Medvedev to wait until I get re-elected and “I’ll have more flexibility”.  This is the man who insists that the media not mention the race of those committing crimes if they are black.

But…There is transparency (leaks) about whom the operatives were that helped us get Bin Laden.  Those operatives are paying the price for this transparency.  It’s like a movie where the bad guy is eliminating all the ‘loose ends’.

Dear Democrats,

President Obama has said that the Republicans’ ideas are from the previous century;  many are.

Conservatives fought for the end of Slavery, they fought for Civil Rights, and they fought for equality for all. Very few Americans would want to see those re-instated.  But on some issues, yes, we would like to return to many of the ideals, mores, and beliefs of the past.

I would like to see school children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America.  As American citizens, there is nothing wrong with voicing this pledge and teaching our children to understand and believe the words.  There is Pride and Unity in them.

What is wrong with standing and placing your hand or hat over your heart, or saluting when The Star Spangled Banner is played? What is wrong with singing along? What would be wrong with teaching our children ALL of the verses?

Women in the workplace are wonderful, and there have been women with jobs outside of the home for centuries; and they should get equal compensation for equal work. In most cases where the work is truly equal, they do; but many positions are relative, and even men don’t get equal pay for the same job.  In most areas, there are many levels of pay dependent on factors such as time on the job, position, performance, attendance, and so on; so equal pay is difficult to judge.  The only time that you will see true equality of pay for anyone is in an instance where the starting position pays minimum (either government or company decreed) wage.

I have worked for most of my adult life, but the best years were those when I could stay home and spend time with my daughter.  Back in the day, when women stayed home and men worked outside of the home, families were more of a partnership.  He took care of the money, and she took care of everything else.  Even then, when women had outside jobs, there was a partnership.  She took care of the inside, and he took care of the outside.  He did repairs; she did laundry.  He took care of the lawn; she took care of the house.  And don’t forget the kids.  They had chores fit for their ages.  They cleaned and dusted, took out trash, cleaned their rooms, did dishes, helped with the lawn, and put their dirty clothes in the hamper and clean clothes in their dresser and closet.  The family was a unit and functioned as one.

During the Great Depression, people didn’t want to go on welfare; most fought it tooth and nail, and they tried to get off the “dole” as soon as possible.  Doctors were often paid on the barter system.  People took what jobs were available and lived according to their means.  It was great to have a wealthy person in your town as then there was work to be done and an income to receive.  There were tough times, but the people worked through them with the knowledge that this great country would recover and win.

Unmarried girls and women tried not to get pregnant, mostly through abstinence.  If you did, the boy would most times make good, and a family would be created. The divorce rate was lower, and most children grew up in a family atmosphere.  There were exceptions, but most families worked at the marriage through the hard times and didn’t just give up.  There was reason to create and save a good marriage.

People took pride in themselves and their families.  Women didn’t run around dressed in pajamas, children wore clean and pressed clothes, and men combed their hair and trimmed their beards.  Families dressed up for church and sat together while they worshipped.  Families sat down at the dinner table together and didn’t watch TV (I’m guilty of that one, big time).  Children did their homework, and the parents checked it.  Parents joined the PTA and went to the meetings.  They expected to be a part of their children’s education.  Abusive parents have been around for years, but they are in the minority; now, parents are afraid of correcting or punishing bad behavior.  Teachers would ‘fail’ a student if they didn’t learn and give them a second chance the nest year.  Most students who graduated to the next grade were at least partially proficient in the last one.  You took tests to get into college and were placed in classes that fit your knowledge level.

People believed in the words “In God We Trust” on our currency, and so did the rest of the world.  We are the only country that will honor any bill ever issued by the federal government for face value.  We may have changed the way it looks, but it is still legal tender.  We have never cancelled our currency and reissued a new one, making the old worthless.

Americans took responsibility for themselves and for America. John Fitzgerald Kennedy said it best.

“Ask not what your Country can do for you; ask what you can do for your Country”

I must admit, he was a Democrat.  But not of the same ilk we have today.

Illegal immigrants were ousted and told to enter legally.  America was created by those choosing to come to this country.  Most worked hard to get here and harder to make it here.  There was self- pride, independence, and a drive to make a better life.  They weren’t looking for a handout; they were looking for a hand-up.  A way out of tyranny, poverty, subjugation, and persecution; not a way toward dependence, but independence.  Immigrants studied and were proud to become American citizens.  They didn’t want to be citizens of the country they had escaped.  They wanted the life of an American and didn’t want America to become what they had left.

This country’s laws were founded on the Ten Commandments and the Magna Carta.  We have freedom to worship as we choose without the government telling us which church to attend, and there are certain “inalienable rights” to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Prior to “Free Love”, anti-establishment era of the 70’s, Americans had pride and honor.  They worked hard to get ahead and reveled in America’s advances and their own.  During this period, America began to change drastically.  The commune became popular with promiscuity and drugs, with irresponsibility being the main focus.  Anyone over 30 was not revered for their wisdom and experience but reviled for their beliefs.  Many grew up and joined civilization.  Many are the leaders of today, for better or worse.  The ideals of youth did not mature with experience as the experience was a lack of ethics and morality.  Parents not wanting to suppress their children’s free will therefore did not teach them to be constructive members of society.  Parents who believed that their parents were wrong in their ethics taught none to their children.

Punishment is not allowed, self responsibility is frowned upon, and working hard and succeeding is demonized.

So, yes, Republicans have ideas and ideals from the last century.  Thank God! And may God continue to Bless the United States of America.

It’s Not Racist If It’s True.

Prejudice is the act of prejudging someone or something without facts. We all do it sometimes; that’s why we are always told that first impressions are important.

If you go to a job interview for an accounting position dressed in raggedy cut-0ffs and a dirty shirt, you will be prejudged.

If you enter a country club in a $2000 suit, you will be prejudged.

Saying all blacks are criminals is racist.

There have been jokes about every race, religion, background, hair color, height, weight, nationality, and so on for as far back as anyone can remember (and I am sure beyond.) For years, my daughter found some of the best “blonde” jokes (we both are blonde); now, it is politically incorrect. I miss the blonde jokes!

It isn’t racist to say that Barack Obama is black; he is. At least half.  It isn’t racist to say that his ideals and goals for America go against mine; they do. It would be racist to say that he has these ideals and goals along with all other blacks just because he is black.  Not all blacks agree with him, and not all others disagree.

It isn’t racist to mention that black mobs and gangs are roaming downtown Chicago beating, killing, and destroying; they are. If the roaming gangs were black, white, Asian, and Hispanic, and we were blaming it all on blacks just because they were black, that would be racist.

Why is it that only white people can be accused of being racist? Years ago I worked with a black woman who believed that only she should be allowed to take care of black customers because she was black. When the boss decided that he would take us all to lunch, she made a big fuss, saying she “would NOT ride in the back”;  she was serious and very adamant until the boss showed up in a limo!  She was racist.

When I was growing up many years ago, races were actually more divided (and at the same time more united). We lived together in harmony, each doing their job without the anger or hatred we see today.  We had “negroes”, or “colored people” (don’t get your panties in a twist; this was before they decided to be called black), Polish, Jews, Germans, Irish, Swedes, Italians, Scots, and on and on.  We had American Indians, India Indians, Persians, Egyptians, etc., etc., etc.  Everyone was a minority.

When the movie “Roots” came out, not so much the book, America started to change.  As with “Uncle Tom’s Cabin”, the ideas and themes of the book started a movement.  The book by Stowe created the setting for the end of slavery in the US.  The Haley book created the setting for retribution over 100 years later.

How far back must we trace our heritage in order to justify being owed something?  If I trace back far enough, I’m sure I could find some group of people who treated my ancestors badly.  Around the time of the Civil War, my husband’s people were being forced to give up their lands, their homes, and in many instances their lives.  Much of this land was deeded to the freed slaves in the late 1860′s.  So in actuality, the slaves took from his ancestors. Was that any better?

Our leaders have made mistakes over the years as have the leaders of all nations from the beginning of Man.  Let’s face it, Eve royally screwed up.  But retribution and revenge are not always the answer.  I’m not saying that we should give in, in fact the opposite, fight for what you believe in.  Just be sure you are fighting for your beliefs and that you don’t let greed, jealously, and fear drive you.

If we admit that some blacks are running wild in Chicago and other major cities, the issue can be faced and corrected.  If we admit that Islamic Jihad Extremists are out to kill America and Americans, the issue can be faced.  It is fact.  It was not the French flying planes into the WTC.  The British are not setting off bombs in Spain.  The Italians are not rioting and killing in America.

Forget about being politically correct; it is an impossible task. Instead, be morally correct,  legally correct, and honestly correct.  We cannot have a conversation or understanding if we are afraid to talk.

There are many countries where the citizens are not allowed to speak. Saddam Hussein was hanged for killing anyone with the audacity to speak against him. In the United States, we are supposed to be free. Many good men and women died for those rights. And many died to keep us from having them. If you say something I don’t agree with, it doesn’t mean you are wrong; but if we talk, we will see that we don’t have to agree on everything to accomplish something.

The Founding Fathers didn’t agree on everything, but they realized that there was a greater good.

Whether or not President Obama was eligible to be the president doesn’t matter as much as what kind of person and president he is.

It really doesn’t matter what his grades were or where he went to school. What his income is or how much he pays in taxes. Lincoln was poor and mostly self-educated.

But Lincoln didn’t try to hide the facts.

These issues have become important because of Obama’s actions. We generally believe that hiding something means there is something to hide.

It bothers me that we let these things get in the way of educated voting.

The people demanding Romney’s and Ryan’s tax returns are the same people who don’t see a problem in President Obama not releasing any information about his childhood and education. And vice-versa.

What matters is what their vision is for our country. In 2007 and 2008, Obama spoke of Hope and Change and promised that he would support the lower classes if they voted him in. He was going to cut the deficit in half and make sure that healthcare was available to all at a price that everyone could afford. He would work with all Americans to create unity. When asked for details, he would say that they were looking into it.

He had so many mesmerized by his looks and his oratory prowess that many didn’t listen to the words. He has had so many names that he may not even know who he really is *Barack Hussein Obama, Barry Obama, Barry Soetoro, etc.) He also never embraced his Black, African-American heritage until it became convenient for him.

His mother and grandmother did not raise him in a religious atmosphere, but he did attend a school during his formative years, where he was taught and lived as a Muslim. He went through school on scholarships and was President of the Harvard Law Review. (This was used as much for Harvard’s benefit as they could roll him out and prove that they were not exclusively the rich, white university.)

It was similar when he was running for President. The big thing was that he could be the First African-American elected to the highest office in the country. During these times, no mention was made of the fact that he was half-white and raised primarily by white people. That part of his history was conducive to his electability.

He was fawned over, idolized, worshiped, and generally treated as royalty of the far past. He was canonized more than JFK.

McCain was vilified for being a war hero and POW. After all, war is bad, and anyone who serves in the military is by association bad. If he or Palin misspoke, they were called idiots; when Obama misspoke, or misspeaks, his supporters chuckle or ignore. The McCain campaign made a mistake with Palin, not with choosing her but with not letting her be herself. She is a strong woman but was hobbled by the handlers who didn’t want her to be too conservative.

Now we have a second chance to listen to the words and research the plans. Romneycare may have worked for Massachusetts as a state, but it was also bastardized by the Democrat-run Congress to create Obamacare. With all the additions and unrelated inclusions and exclusions, it will cost more for everyone except the Obama base, the low income citizens. They won’t be any better off; they will still have basically the same coverage. It’s the middle-class that will see the greatest increase in their costs as they won’t be able to choose what coverage they need. They won’t be able to self-insure or choose to pay their bills themselves.

The debt has gone up more in Obama’s 3 ½ years than it did during the 8 years of Bush. Even the CBO has a forecast that shows the deficit going higher than it did even during the Great Depression. World War II helped enormously in the recovery, but I don’t think that any American in their right mind wants to try to recover by having World War III.

For years, many people believed that Obama was going to be good for America. He was an unknown, and as the American Spirit usually does, we gave him a chance to succeed. But he failed. The only Americans I know of who are better off today than they were 3 years ago are the Obamas. His salary has increased, he and his family are living rent-free in a much bigger house with an enormous staff at their beck and call, and all their wishes are granted. Hopefully, they won’t get the wish for four more years.

When Romney was the CEO of Bain, he owned and worked for that company and it’s shareholders. They bought businesses, tried to resuscitate them, and then sell them for a profit. Much like a real estate investor who buys fixers and turns them. The company directors and owners who sold to Bain got paid a fair price; they weren’t cheated or forced to take the deal. The same goes for the companies who bought from Bain. We aren’t talking about a speak-easy owner forced by criminals to buy booze from them or sell out; we’re talking about educated men and women with CPAs and attorneys going over the books and making and accepting offers.

Romney was not my first choice, far from it; but Obama is no choice at all.
