Let’s see politicians run on their records and their accomplishments for a change, not on the politics of character assassination. Of course, Obama has NEVER run a campaign on his record since he got into politics. His tactic IS character assassination; just look at the news stories covering his rise to the presidency! I don’t want empty promises about what they’ll give me if I vote for them. I want them to tell me what they will do to change the conditions in this country to make it a business-friendly environment that will help to create jobs, bring manufacturing back to America, and make America energy-independent. I want a candidate that will make being wealthy a dream for everyone and not denigrating those who have achieved that goal. I want a candidate who offers nothing more than an equal opportunity across the spectrum of race, gender, and religion.
I want a candidate who will keep government OUT of our personal lives and businesses and allow the capitalist system to do what it does best. Let America’s thinkers , entrepreneurs, inventors, tinkers, and idea-people blossom and make our lives better with their products. I want a candidate who looks to the states to provide the education that they need, not to what the government dictates. I want a candidate willing to use the government to make our military strong and keep it that way. I want a candidate who promises no more than he can deliver but delivers more than he promises.
I want a candidate that can keep state secrets and the identities of our shadow warriors under wraps. I want a candidate who is quick to give praise to other people and assume responsibility when a mistake is made. I want my candidate to have enough humility to make him or her likable but have a spine of steel when it comes to dealing with both our enemies and our allies. I want a candidate to pick the best candidates to help him run this country and have their heart and loyalty planted firmly in our Constitution and our values.
More than anything, I want a candidate who is a uniter, not a divider. A person of accomplishment with a thick skin is ideal. Ronald Reagan was the man back in the day who made you feel proud to be an American. A man, although thought by many to be an old tottering dolt, turned out to be a pretty savvy politician. He set the stage for the fall of the Soviet Union and a reawakening of America’s industrial power. I want a candidate that makes feel safe from terror and who cares about giving my kids and grandkids a better future than we had.
I want a candidate who respects religious freedom, true freedom of the press, and America’s laws. I don’t see any of that in our current President. He has a four year track record of doing almost the total opposite of what made America great and embraces a governmental system that has been the nemesis of America for too long. If Obama spent as much time in the Oval Office as he does on vacation or on the golf links, we might actually get something accomplished in this country.
Mainly, I want a candidate who wants to be President. I want someone who wants to ACCOMPLISH things that allow average, everyday Americans to improve their lives through hard work and persistence. I want a President who believes in this country and our Constitution. This election, we have a chance to start turning this country around, and I hope we get the change we need!
