Dear Gang Of 8

US Immigration Office Tired Poor etc. SC Dear Gang of 8

There should be no discussion whatsoever about changing or amending immigration policy without first securing our border, enforcing current immigration law, and implementing E-verify. Our borders are wide open, and we all know it.  You have no idea who the millions of illegal immigrants in this country are. You don’t know why they came, where they’ve been, and what they bring with them.  You haven’t asked each and every one of them.  Our current immigration process does just that – so the United States knows that when an immigrant has become a citizen, his background has been checked for criminal records; his blood has been checked for communicable diseases; his financial records have been checked for stability; and his knowledge of the country, its laws, and his reasons for being here have been committed to record.  My husband went through that process and became a citizen; it’s not that hard!

The millions who go through that process have declared that they want to be citizens, and they obeyed our laws so that they too could be protected by them.  Many fled from countries where they didn’t have such protection.  The last idea our representatives should be entertaining is to pile millions of illegal immigrants – who didn’t want to bother with our legal process – on top of the millions who did.  This is already an overburdened process.  How much extra taxpayer-funded staff will have to be added to field the paperwork of all the new Amnesty recipients?  How many legal immigrants’ cases will be slowed and pushed aside for illegals to get a cheap ticket at the front?  Why should lawbreakers be rewarded?  Why should law-abiding legal immigrants be so slighted?

You should demand that every inch of our border is protected, fenced, surveilled, and patrolled.  You should oppose illegal immigrants being given any taxpayer funded services or driver’s licenses that are magnets drawing them here.  You should demand the implementation of E-verify.  This obvious and peaceful solution will have illegals returning to their countries of origin on their own.  The interest of Big Businesses who want cheap labor are not more important than the safety of every citizen and the livelihoods of citizens out of work in Obama’s horrible economy.  You should demand the implementation of voter ID – stand against those who are nullifying the votes of legal citizens with their fraud.  Give these three to five years to work before discussing any Amnesty policy.

The anti-gun bill was killed this past week.  People know that we need to be able to protect ourselves every single day.  The best defense against both threats are law-abiding gun-owners exercising their right to bear arms, and the government and criminals shouldn’t be the only ones with guns.  Your Amnesty bill should fail for similar reasons because it’s not just terrorists that are a concern.  In my home state of North Carolina, there are dozens and dozens of crimes committed every month by illegal aliens.  They are drunk drivers, rapists, molesters, batterers, and murderers.  We know about the government’s catch-and-release policy.  We know of all the criminals who were released, supposedly in preparation for Obama’s Sequestration.  The purpose of the government is to protect its citizens, and part of that is securing our borders and enforcing the law.  It’s obvious; we all know it. Every country does it, and there’s nothing racially charged or unfair about it.  Stop the push for Amnesty!

What Happened To “Never Again”?

Never Again SC What Happened to “Never Again”?

Human Rights activist Pamela Geller was scheduled to speak at the Great Neck Synagogue on April 14th until the synagogue’s officials caved to the bully tactics of Islamic bigot Habeeb Ahmed and others who relentlessly threatened and browbeat them should they go through with her speaking engagement.  Ahmed’s kind loath open dialogue and ruthlessly vilify anyone who speaks the truth about the violence and extremism so prevalent in Islam.  They vilified Geller and threatened among other things to march against the synagogue.  The GNS’s officials could have resisted these threats; they could have championed free speech loudly.  They could have weathered that storm and stood courageously and righteously against these present-day Nazis who were trying to deny their First Amendment rights.  Instead, they acquiesced; and now they will never be able to live down their utter spinelessness.  As Steve Goldberg so aptly put it, “They have disgraced their congregation, their families, and the entire Jewish community.”

Here is the Great Neck Synagogue Executive Committee’s statement:

As the notoriety and media exposure of the planned program this Sunday have increased, so has the legal liability and potential security exposure of our institution and it’s [sic] member families. In an era of heightened security concerns it is irresponsible to jeopardize the safety of those who call Great Neck Synagogue home, especially our children, even at the risk of diverting attention from a potentially important voice in the ongoing debate. Accordingly, the Great Neck Synagogue Men’s Club will no longer be sponsoring the appearance of Pamela Geller this coming Sunday, and no event will be taking place in our facility.

The Great Neck Synagogue could have dealt with the harassment and intimidation in any number of ways.  Notably, they could have widely publicized it; but instead, Geller herself was the one to expose it on her website Atlas Shruggs along with Tom Trento of The United West.  In the face of threats to march on the synagogue, they could have rallied the community to band together and stand firmly against the oppression of free speech.  They could have counter-protested.  If they indeed felt their children were threatened, they could have requested police protection and, again, exposed those (illegal) threats publicly.

Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch writes:

[T]he precedent is reinforced that smear campaigns work, and that all the foes of freedom have to do in order to shut down any voices opposed to them is mount a campaign simultaneously vilifying and demonizing their targeted speaker and showing the host the price he will have to pay for featuring the target.

I have lived and worked in Great Neck, and family of mine lived there for nearly their whole lives.  It is a very strong community.  I can’t help but remember on 9-11 the train station parking lots filled with cars that would never be retrieved by those who worked in the Twin Towers.  Great Neck, like many New York City suburbs, was devastated by that terrorist attack.  It is shocking that they would capitulate to the terrorist tactic of threatening violence and protest to stifle free speech.  On second thought, maybe it isn’t so shocking.  Great Neck is also a very liberal community, prone to the fake clichés of diversity, tolerance, and Islam as a religion of peace.  Perhaps it is more surprising that they stood against the threats as long as they did.  But by surrendering, they have betrayed themselves, each other, and Jews the world over.  They have betrayed everyone who has fought to protect and defend their First Amendment rights, and they have paved the way for more such intimidation to take place.

As Hitler was gathering power in 1930’s Germany, the Jews and others kept giving their oppressors the benefit of the doubt.  They let the Nazis take their weapons, close their businesses, and shove them into ghettos.  They told themselves it was just temporary.  So many didn’t fight back and didn’t realize the mortal threat against them until the camp gates slammed home.  Anti-Semitism is more prevalent today than ever.  Muslim extremists all over the world proclaim their hatred of the Jews and all freedom-loving peoples; they call daily for the destruction of Israel and the Jews.  They teach their children to hate, not to live in peace with their neighbors.  They thrash the right to speak freely worldwide; they demand the slaughter of anyone who disagrees with them or speaks out against them.  We know their aim.  Stopping free speech and open dialog is just the beginning of subjugation.  Yielding to their threats while we are still in a free America is reprehensible.  Shame on the officials of the Great Neck Synagogue.

Persuasion, Not Pandering

GOP SC Persuasion, Not Pandering

As the GOP struggles with “rebranding” and how they can turn around the 2012 defeat and win the future, the answer is simple.  It has nothing to do with any particular group or moving farther left – those are the same ideas that have failed the Republicans for years.  Instead of pandering to individual groups, the GOP should focus on spreading the truth that conservative policy benefits all people – regardless of sex, race, economic status, origin, preference, or favorite color.

Lower taxes benefit everyone: keep more of your own money and do what you want with it.  A black gay business owner benefits from keeping more of his hard-earned cash just as much as a straight white working mom.  The enforcement of our immigration laws benefit all citizens present and future – especially minorities trying to work in Obama’s failed economy, and especially legal immigrants who abided by our laws so that they could be protected by our laws.  Strong borders and foreign policy protect all citizens, regardless of what may come before the hyphenated “XYZ-American.”

Gun rights provide that every law-abiding citizen regardless of background is able to defend themselves – be it against home invasion or tyranny.  Traditional social values strengthen society for all – even those who choose not to live by them.  The same goes for religion – the whole society benefits from the freedom to practice their faith and Judeo-Christian values, whether or not they practice or believe in any faith at all.  Constitutional law and Conservative values protect and elevate women and minorities, they give children the best chance for stability and success, the poor get a better chance to get out of poverty, and they strengthen society as a whole so that all have a chance at success and happiness.

Despite the myth of diversity hucksters, it’s not what makes us different that brings us together – it’s what we have in common that unites us.  Our differences are what make things interesting, and these can even help us shore up our weaknesses; but the whole point of equality under the law is that no group gets special treatment or special rights.  We’re all equal in our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – however we define it.  The Constitution doesn’t define what makes you happy, and neither does conservative policy.  Meanwhile, leftist Democrats try to tell you what you need or don’t need – buy this lightbulb; can’t buy that sized drink; you don’t need that kind of gun; you need to pay for someone else.

The GOP has yet to harness the beauty of the uniquely American guarantee of our inalienable rights.  The guarantee of Liberty! That is what created the foundation for the most diverse country in the world boasting some of the world’s greatest inventions, discoveries, and successes by people of every stripe and shape.  It doesn’t matter who you are, who you were, where you came from, what sex you are, or what color your skin is.  Your rights are protected under the law, and there are basically no restrictions on what you can do with your life – whatever effort you are willing to put into it as long as you’re not harming another.  Conservative ideals and policies are freedom-loving while left-wing policies are all about imposing restrictions on others.  This is easy to show, and the GOP should exploit it at every turn.

Expose the hypocrisy of leftists championing freedom of speech while stifling it in the public school systems.  Show the hypocrisy of their promotion of European socialism while every country under such economies is going bankrupt before our eyes.  Shed light on the hypocrisy of the claim to be for the little guy and against crony capitalism while giving their favored “green” companies sweet taxpayer-funded billion-dollar grants to produce nothing.  Display the hypocrisy of those who will scream about a “right” to abortion but are against capital punishment and all about more gun-control laws in the name of protecting children.  Show the hypocrisy of leftists who are against Americans being able to practice their faith and own guns but demand no judgment on extremist Muslims who perform honor killings and mass-murder according to their faith.  Illustrate the double standard of a party that shouts “War on Women!” while they’re silent about the violence against women endemic in Islam as Sharia is increasingly being insinuated into our court systems.

The GOP also needs to recapture the spirit of its great heritage: ending slavery, championing equal and voting rights for blacks, desegregation, women’s suffrage, and equal pay for equal work just to name a few.

Every time Republicans lose, they say they need to be more like their opposition to win; but that’s the same failed thinking that keeps losing them elections.  The GOP doesn’t need to be more like the opposition; they need to be more persuasive than the opposition.  It’s no easy task when they control the media and make most of the music and movies.  But naming the right goal would be a good start.  We’re Americans: black, white, gay, straight, guy, gal, young, and old.  We all eat, sleep, breathe, and bleed; and we all want a better life for our children.  The Democrat party is divisive.  Let the GOP be uniting – not by pandering to individual groups, but by appealing to what we all hold in common despite our differences.

Sequestration: Say Goodbye To Our First Line Of Defense

Fallujah Iraq Dec 8 2004 1 Sequestration: Say Goodbye to Our First Line of Defense

Between Leon Panetta’s unconstitutional order that combat units be opened to women and impending Sequestration this week, America can kiss goodbye its military superiority and ability to fight wars effectively.  As readiness goes, so goes our security both at home and abroad.

The top military brass is already under pressure to show diversity and prove it doesn’t discriminate.  Indeed, that is now its foremost mandate, not military readiness.  With the repeal of laws barring women from combat units and special forces, they will now be forced to prove they’re giving women a “fair” shake by discriminating against more qualified men, since no comprehensive testing was done to prove women can make it through their training. (And the only two we know of who attempted such, two in the Marine Infantry Officer course, failed in the first day and the first week of training respectively.)  It won’t matter that the women can’t make those standards that most of the top men in every branch can’t achieve.

It will go something like this at the officer level:  “Suzy-Q failed the training?  You’re up for promotion, aren’t you?  Take another look at Suzy-Q.”  And from DOD to the top brass:  “We expect X% pass rate for females.  Anything less will be seen as discrimination.  Next year’s budget will reflect the success of this program.  Understood?”  The military will have to lower the standards of its toughest units in order to fill quotas of women to show they’re not discriminating.

Under Sequestration, equipment isn’t the only thing on the chopping block.  Personnel will be as well, and all will have to prove their value in the positions they hold or want to hold.  With the conflicting directives of cutting fat vs. compliance with female quotas in the combat units, it is qualified and experienced men who will be purged first.  Combined with the inevitably lowered standards in these units to accommodate women, it is combat readiness that will suffer the most.

Cutting spending is vital for every department of government, including the military.  The Marines have always been in the lead when it comes to working with the least, then cutting even more.  With so many other ways to cut the excess – from non-vital programs like the National Endowment for the Arts to stopping the fraud and waste so pervasive in government programs from Social Security to Medicare – Sequestration is totally unnecessary.  But this was Obama’s idea, and it put the military in the cross-hairs from the start.  It’s easy to see why.  This administration thinks the military is too masculine, too white, too conservative, and too straight.  They’ve repealed DADT, opened the toughest units to women who can’t make it through one week of their training, and sold our equipment to our enemies.  This is just the next phase in destroying the last bastion of merit and strength our country has against enemies both foreign and domestic.

No Toddler Left Behind Means More Government-Controlled Children

Kids Sc No Toddler Left Behind Means More Government Controlled Children

“Study after study shows that the sooner a child begins learning, the better he or she does down the road.”  Obama said this in last Tuesday’s State of the Union address, arguing that the federal government should provide preschool education.  Among his multitudinous straw man arguments and big-government strategies, this is just another plan for more government control of our children at the taxpayers’ expense.

While early learning is a benefit to children, this doesn’t mean that earlier formal school will benefit them. Why should we subject toddlers to the same education system that is failing our kindergarten through twelfth graders?   American students are currently at the bottom when it comes to test scores in subjects like math and science.  A quarter of our kids are dropping out of high school, and many of those who do graduate can’t read at grade level.  Despite failing our children, the government’s constant answer is that the schools need more money.  Yet the more money they get, the worse our students do every year. This is just another pitch to gain influence over younger and younger children, continue to erode parental rights, and to gain more jobs for teachers and their unions who vote for big government.

The same problems we see for day-care kids vs. children who are cared for at home will pervade this new proposed school system.  Daycare kids are twelve times more likely to get the flu than those cared for at home.  Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that toddlers in daycare are more insecure, anxious, aggressive, hyperactive, defiant, and disobedient.  What kind of teenagers and adults do they become with this as their foundation?  Just as the constant change in personnel negatively affects daycare children’s sense of trust and security, so will this be the case for younger children going through government-run public school systems.

Licensed and “trained professionals” are already forming the value systems of our children as they have them for thousands of hours away from their parents’ care.  Obama will put children who are at a critical and vulnerable stage in their psychological and behavioral development under the care of people who are not accountable for any mistakes or false teaching.  It will not help children, poor or otherwise.  What it will do is create a division in the authority figures in children’s lives.

Estimates are that this will cost taxpayers $98 billion over ten years.  Families who are already struggling will bear the burden of even more money taken out of their pockets to be used not only to indoctrinate their children, but also to undermine their parental guidance and authority.

What really sets children up for success at every stage of development is a strong nuclear family unit, not government-run education.  But strong families are less likely to teach their children victimhood and government dependence.  That’s a problem for an administration that wants ever more government control over the lives of Americans.
